@sapetyvi Tried first session on you tube tonight. I'm inflexible as hell but I did feel like I did some work, and I got a little bit of a sweat up. Will try the 20 minute beginner one for a while and see where it takes me 🙂

@Duluth reckon it takes even more discipline when training at home - those tricks around staying stimulated are really good.

I'm learning Olympic lifting, which is a whole new range of skills and asking my body to X, Y and Z. Nothing like a challenge to keep you focused!! Would definitely suggest writing down what you do (this forum is perfect!) as that lets you reflect longer-term over goals and stuff.

@Crucial tacky, Friday night meat markets are all the rage.

Gotta have some method of keeping the inbreeding going I suppose.

    @raznomore
    Thanks.
It's been quite a saga and so I can empathise with others who experience achilles issues.

I have been through the ringer with this leg. So after a diagnosis of it healing long I was confronted with surgery.

It was pretty soul destroying to be honest. I have a desk job and I am only ever required on site when things go wrong which is hardly ever. All my projects were running themselves at that point so a little time off work wouldn't be an issue. But the not running around with my son has been absolute shit. He feels it too. We would play one on one bball for hours every weekend and its been 7 months of none of that. So to say the least I was pretty upset.

Went in for some pre op check ups and they have flip flopped. It's all shortened up and they are happy with my progress - no surgery. I actually noticed I was walking almost normally too so I was starting to think surgery was fucking unnecessary. My calf muscle is almost back to the right size now too - although the shape isn't quite right.

But I feel like im almost right again. Certain things are not advisable for me though. Sport is just something I watch and that's it now. I can go to the gym, lift weights, eventually jog on a tread mill and light shooting around with my son is ok. But at almost 40 ive been told to not think of this as something that will eventually come right.

Bill Burr is great. He also goes after people blaming McDonalds for being fat.

"They didn't have a salad option, so I had to eat 52 big macs."

Finally got beneath 2 hours for the half marathon this weekend ... 1:58:29 official time. Happy with. I have previously run at 1:56 on Strava, but I after yesterdays, I'm not sure I trust strava so much anymore.

Anyway, regardless, that goal has now 100% been completed, onto the next one.

    Bent row.

Played a bit of touch footy last night with some of the guys from the rugby club. Lungs are shit. Migraine symptoms came on after about 5 minutes but I kept going. Fuck it - I'm the President!

that is a good bloody effort Rock, I'd love to be able to claim a training effect but think I'm just not great at push ups. We tend to add them in with bench press but rarely do we ever do a push up only workout.

A old uni mate would always start the day with 2-3 sets of push ups and sit ups - I think to failure or something. But he was pretty good at em!!

Should make you feel fuller and be more satisfying as higher fat so higher calories.

A few people of I know go for the buffalo milk in their coffees which has similar effects.

Yeah I do both before and after and the walk home afterwards ( usually about 5 minutes but takes me 10 after the workout ) is good for a bit of active type recovery particularly getting up the drive which is a breeze when I'm fresh but akin to climbing Everest when I'm not !

I chuck the weights in a bag or use my children but they're getting heavy and less inclined to help their old man try to delay the aging process.

I presume you have a suitcase or bag. Fill it up with heavy stuff and use it for rows and curls.

My vice ( obviously ) is the odd beer/wine here and there, but long gone are the days of a dozen shitty ones, much prefer 2-3 top quality brews. Other half isn't a drinker but she does enjoy chocolate/donuts etc so between us we keep eachother pretty honest and if we both overindulge we motivate eachother to try and burn it off ( easier for her on account of being a fitness instructor ! )

I'm about 103kg at the moment but being quite tall I think I wear it ok. Can still get into 34 jeans and do weights and decent bodyweight exercises even if my goal of 20 chin ups is proving tough

haha I know...but hey, guess they were just doing their job, and like most 'athletes', up to you to ensure what you put into you isn't in the list; IMO makes a mockery of any pro athlete that claims they didn't know, if some teenage provincial golfer from Whangarei has been given a list of banned substances.

I think there's be fuck all ( if any ) pro rugby players of 92kg pulling that sort of weight, hell of a fucken effort. I have done 230kg at 102kg and will be 39 next month so for a young fella that age that is an absolutely exceptional lift although the elite of the elite little 60-70kg powerlifters with arms and legs like milk bottles could do that.
