So Chiefs vs Blues for the chocolates.

I'd put my money on the Chiefs.

I did not like the refereeing in this game. Cogger-Orr seemed to always favour the defensive team, and often never let the attacking player to even place the ball.

The Poua played much better than the final score indicated, particularly with no warmup game. A dominant Chiefs Manawa scrum (even with 7 players) and tenacious defence was the difference.

@taniwharugby That miss on Petaia for that try was the worst attempt of a tackle i have seen in Pro rugby ever. I would have pulled him after that.

    Mounga and Jordan say hi...

I think this game suggests you can gas the big French forwards. Biggar's kicking game was superb and turned around the big munters at times.

    Banks was on fire

    Got some serious wheels

Looks like he's running from zombies 🙂

He was playing against the Rebels. He's awfully average against competent players - just look at his efforts at fullback last year for the Wallabies.

This competition is looking more and more amateur every week dealing with these restrictions.

@pakman I think you need another angle to safetly say there was no doubt it went over. Those images are far too blurry to suggest that it definitely went over.

My technological skills are inadequate to get clear pictures on Fern, but if you run the tape back and forward there’s no doubt.

It doesn’t change anything, except maybe the referee’s association should ask the touchies what they were doing!

A midfield combo with the two twin brothers could be fun but it won't happen under Foster's management.

    Ardie and Julian?

Yeah, how good was O'Connor! Impressive performance.

O'Connor and Paisami were impressive. I was surprised how well Paisami stepped into first receiver. He has always been able to distribute but organising off 2nd/3rd phase ball was impressive. The shot he put on Mataele outside of the legality was Sam Tuitupou like.

    This is a hard watch.

Improved significantly in the second half because the Tahs decided to join in the "rugby" thing.

Their try to Bell was Brumbies-like - march upfield on the back of penalties then phase play to score once you isolate some forwards.

The try to Harris was a cracker. I thought it was very Kiwi-like in that it showed good support lines and some patience, striking from halfway.

    Discipline stil needs work.

Good on the Drua , they will be happy with first win. Have to be honest while I enjoyed game a bit looked like 2 teams that aren't really super level.

Just like the saders and MP!

If that's what you think, to me Crsaders and Moana Pasifika looked like 2 teams playing their first super game of year. And I not sure will get uo to super level this year, but I haven't written them off after 1 game together.

Ireland are ambitious, and do play with width. They just have shit outside backs who really struggle to turn opportunities in to points

And Sexton is still teh biggest fluffybunny in world rugby

I liked @Tim's description of him as 'a particularly adenoidal teenager'. His videos are fucking irritating.

His primary audience are Poms and people who don't know much about rugby... which are sort of the same thing. Oh sure, he pulls out the odd interesting tactical tidbit, but I find his breakdowns rubbery.

History of rugby union matches between Australia and England - Wikipedia

I don’t have to open that link to know that was a cruel response.

    Good work.

It's pretty even, actually. The last few years have tilted it toward England.

Of course it would be just in Australia's favour if the TMO could have correctly overruled Dan Luger's try in 2003, and not been hamstrung by the home director. 😉

    And Deans did score!

However, despite gaining loads of metres when he was brought down it either resulted in turnover ball or a penalty for holding on.

i noted a couple of very good Welsh breaks came to nothing because the support play was absolute zero. There were white jerseys everywhere scrambling, and not a red jersey in sight.

Cuthbert the best line breaker on the day and the worst culprit of running away from support

That game epitomised Cuthbert for me. All the physical attributes but just not very bright. Also i think that England missed an opportunity to put the ball behind him as his positioning is a bit suss and he has the turning circle of a supertanker.

Why the hell is Carter Gordon benched?

The problem is they have a rubbish 9 (Powell).

Yo-yo-ing isn't going to help young Carter Gordon

And To'omua isn't a 10. Kills whatever attacking opportunity is left after Powell fucks around at the base

I not convinced Toomua is all that good at 10 either NTA, I really like him, (probably because I knew him as young player at my club) but have always thought he was better at 12.
