Sometimes the truth hurts
Yeah, up to a point. I stopped watching when one of them ( not Victor) said Clarke was no good under the high ball.
Is that the perception people have? Really? -

Is that the perception people have? Really? Not to mention the first razorism, the so called player who plays on both sides of the ball. Cue the uppercut

Forecast looks rubbish...
30km/h northerly wind and rain....Probably going to be messy
This weather is perfect for direct forward play, and a controlled performance from 10 with effective kicking for territory
We're fucked then

Beaudy, ALB, DMAC, TJP for example you arent fearing for your safety.
Bender, Conrad, DC, Nuggie ...
Bender was tough as old boots. He clattered Picamoles in 2015 going for a high ball.
Conrad was tough as fuck too. He'd cut the knees off you. He actually put in the second best tackle I think ive ever seen (after Warburton on Tuilagi) against South Africa. I think it was on JDV but Pienaar ended up scoring anyway. A proper daisy cutter. See below at 3 mins 20 seconds. Like falling an oak tree.
DC would put you on your arse and flog the ball off you too, and also had a GOAT fend.
Nuggie I'll give you. But I think nit picking over a scrummie is disingenuous.
I think im making a fair point.
We are a nice team to play these days. No looking over your shoulder to see where Brad Thorn or Collins or Nonu or Kaino is. Lads who like hurting you...legally.
Im not looking for a Richard Loe. Im looking for a 2018 Sam Cane.
DMac is one of the toughest and bravest players out there. Not sure your judgement is that great on this topic if youre including him in your not manly man group.

Looking forward to the match. Clarke, Rieko and Jordan are all significant upgrades, if we can get just parity in the forwards we'll have too much fire power for them. That said, the weather will be a bit of a leveler.

In terms of power, mass x acceleration they are. SAs big backs are slower and their fast backs are smaller. Rieko and Caleb have size and speed/acceleration combined.
Kriel and Am say hi
Ha! You don't remember Rieko absolutely burning Am in Jo'burg when they saved Fozzies job.
No doubt Am is a great footy player and better centre than Rieko, but as an out and out athlete, Rieko wins hands down.

Yes I'm not arguing actual rugby ability.
Victor Matfield in the video said when he played the All Blacks they always had guys thay were bigger and faster athletes in the backs and he said that wasn't the case with last weekends team.
I think he has a point.
But I also think that the inclusion of Clarke and Ioane change the backline dynamic from last week.
I alluded to it in a previous post a few days back.
When you are lining up for the haka and you are looking across at Beaudy, ALB, DMAC, TJP for example you arent fearing for your safety.
Even when we used to lose a game the opposition had a tough day at the office.
Not so much now. We are a nice bunch of lads. Picking opponents up off the turf. Media trained to the nines. Nice skin fades. Nice boots. Sanitised.
I sound Jurassic but it's true.
There are no nasty bastards in the team.
All fur coat and no knickers.
I remember when James O'Connor first made the Wallabies, I thought to myself that a kid like that would never make it in NZ rugby - not big enough, not powerful enough.
Only a few short years later and we had both D Mac and R Mounga as central cogs in our team and we are looking more and more like the Wallabies teams that O'Connor played in.

hold up... 2008 to 2023 is a few short years later? O'Connor's debut was 2008!

And we'd had the similar sized DC at 10 for a few years.
Posters seem to be going out of their way to put round pegs into square holes these days.

It's not just us though, is it. How many large first-fives are there out there at the moment after Handre Pollard?

@Brandon said in All Blacks v Argentina II:
Looks like pretty hectic weather in Auckland. Maybe takes.some sting out of ABs attack? You guys will know better.
What attack is that?
ABs tend to thrive on attacking rugby in the wet to be fair, could have an effect on the Argies though.... hopefully.
-
I'm really not sure what to think going into this game because we haven't looked convincing in any of Razor's tests so far, it feels that something is bound to give, as every aspect of the AB's game this year (other than our defense prior to last week) has been a significant backwards step from 2023 under Schmidt. I think we're either going to win convincingly or go down like a bunch of limp dicks again.
-
Current Auckland wx anyone

@DaGrubster said in All Blacks v Argentina II:
Essentially, we are seeing that Joe Schmidt is a better international coach than Razor is after 4 games in Charge.
Steady on. He's played the might of Wales and Georgia.
