Could do with a poll to work out what to call his new hairdo though.
"Nana's All Black Fluffed Pubes Doilie".
When the boys turn up to school looking like that, I tell them that at least they are now useful, because I can turn them upside down and use them as a mop.

@Rancid-Schnitzel Not sure where you're coming from, while I've been a fan of SBW he's never been close to one of my favourite players but I'm happy to defend him when he plays well so fair cop if that's Knighting. As you seem to be unable to accept any criticism about BB (and the Barrett clan as whole) I've come to the assumption you must be a relative.
Was it just me, or did Scott Barrett drop the ball a lot in that game?
It's funny hearing about how Jordie will be the next big thing -- a guaranteed success -- when Scott was being pumped as a superstar not that long ago.
My issue with Beauden isn't that he's flat-footed, because the coaches should be able to sort that out. It's that his kicking in general play is atrocious. We had a good chase on a chip kick out of our 22 at one point utterly spoiled because Beauden kicked it far too far. His bombs aren't much chop. His deep kicks seem to unerringly find a man. The cross field kick that was his best weapon last year has disappeared.

On the contrary, I'm simply using precisely the same arguments youve used for years and find it rather hilarious that you should be bitching about knights.
Im not going to say BB had a good game or a particularly good year. I do however believe much of that was to do with the systems and tactics of the backline next year. It's not like Lima has thrived either. That could well be bullshit but I guess we'll see next year. What I'm not going to do is start labelling people haters.
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel I've used it for years - you're talking about arguments everyone on the Fern uses, we're all hypocritical in that respect. Also, where did I label anyone a hater? I said there were posters whinging about him.

He did that stupid pass to no one deep inside the ABs 22. Luckily big brother mopped up the mistake.

I've always had an issue with BB being flat-footed and shuffling the ball along while not committing any defenders. Beauden's point of difference is his acceleration off the mark so I wish he'd take on the line more.
Regarding kicking, I did find it strange that DMac wasn't used more when both are options. We saw one long kick to touch from DMac and another contested bomb which led to a Welsh knock-on. But that was about it.

I wonder if our lack of territory and possession comes down to this. We have been blessed with Carter and a lesser extent Cruden over the years. Ben Smith and Dagg also often help out. Dmac did take a few more kicks today but weren't that much better from memory.
He did place kick well today so should give him credit there.
-
@bovidae yep, without Dagg there, we seem to think BB is our only kicking option...
Cane was absolutely out on his feet, although looked like he may have injured himself in that final 10 as well, but even then he still kept getting up and knocking them down.
-
In the absence of BFA I would have thought the best option for bombs in the middle of the field was for DMac to put them up and have BB chasing - he's very good under the high ball. A simple tactic to maximise the strengths of the players out there.

Sure, if you use that argument then everyone else must. As I said, you bitching about knights riding in to defend a player no matter what is absolutely hilarious.
-
@taniwharugby Yeah. Guess he was available for the Wales game though?

If you want to pretend I'm somehow worse than everyone else on the Fern then go for your life, although, if I hadn't have mentioned BB's performance you likely wouldn't have bothered responding.
@Tim I think he's actually all good for once isn't he?

I mentioned that at half time. They were constantly running shields into the defence

Didn’t one of the decent props from Canterbury or Ta$man declare for Tonga or Samoa this year?

@taniwharugby I don’t think so. Who are you suggesting?
