    @Rancid-Schnitzel I've used it for years - you're talking about arguments everyone on the Fern uses, we're all hypocritical in that respect. Also, where did I label anyone a hater? I said there were posters whinging about him.

    @chester-draws said in AB's v Wales:

    Was it just me, or did Scott Barrett drop the ball a lot in that game?

    He did that stupid pass to no one deep inside the ABs 22. Luckily big brother mopped up the mistake.

    My issue with Beauden isn't that he's flat-footed, because the coaches should be able to sort that out. It's that his kicking in general play is atrocious. We had a good chase on a chip kick out of our 22 at one point utterly spoiled because Beauden kicked it far too far. His bombs aren't much chop. His deep kicks seem to unerringly find a man. The cross field kick that was his best weapon last year has disappeared.

    I've always had an issue with BB being flat-footed and shuffling the ball along while not committing any defenders. Beauden's point of difference is his acceleration off the mark so I wish he'd take on the line more.

    Regarding kicking, I did find it strange that DMac wasn't used more when both are options. We saw one long kick to touch from DMac and another contested bomb which led to a Welsh knock-on. But that was about it.

    I wonder if our lack of territory and possession comes down to this. We have been blessed with Carter and a lesser extent Cruden over the years. Ben Smith and Dagg also often help out. Dmac did take a few more kicks today but weren't that much better from memory.

    He did place kick well today so should give him credit there.

    @bovidae yep, without Dagg there, we seem to think BB is our only kicking option...

    Cane was absolutely out on his feet, although looked like he may have injured himself in that final 10 as well, but even then he still kept getting up and knocking them down.

    @taniwharugby

    In the absence of BFA I would have thought the best option for bombs in the middle of the field was for DMac to put them up and have BB chasing - he's very good under the high ball. A simple tactic to maximise the strengths of the players out there.

    Not a bad second half considering the unavailable/injured players:

    1. Moody
    2. Coles
    3. Franks
    4. Romano
    5. Retallick
    6. Kaino
    7. Read
    8. TKB
    9. B. Smith
    10. Crotty
    11. Dagg
    12. J. Barrett

    Add Gibson, Black/Gatland, and Proctor to that list and you've got a pretty decent XV.

    Sure, if you use that argument then everyone else must. As I said, you bitching about knights riding in to defend a player no matter what is absolutely hilarious.

    If you want to pretend I'm somehow worse than everyone else on the Fern then go for your life, although, if I hadn't have mentioned BB's performance you likely wouldn't have bothered responding.

    @Tim I think he's actually all good for once isn't he?

    ... they also had about three examples of shepherding/our defenders being taken out, where the attacking player then ran exactly through that space. ...

    I mentioned that at half time. They were constantly running shields into the defence

    I enjoyed watching us more in this game than most others this year. I think mainly because we had so little ball their wasn't time for multiple stupid errors.

    Good win considering our 9, 10 and 12 were rubbish. Our kicking game was shit, so Wales found it easy to pin us back.

    Awesome defense though (TJP aside) our forwards fucked theirs up. Then Ioane did something awesome and we scored. That was pretty much the key, defense, discipline and Ioane.

    Loved seeing our 7 man scrum easily handle them.

    Decent end to an ordinary year.
