@Winger Barrett isn't a 10. If he's moved away from 12, it will be to fullback, not to 10.

But who else is there? Neither Moorby or Godfrey are good enough yet. I would have Love at FB

Cameron is class but sadly hes out. I would try Barrett at first and see how he goes. If hes shit then the team won't win it. No team does without a quality first. I would have Godfrey at FB until Love returns. Then after a few game maybe try him at 1st

Cameron is a massive loss I feel. With a return date for Love still not clear, we really don’t have many options with Godfrey being so young.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Love get the 10 jersey when he comes back, he’s better than Morgan. Shift Jordie to fullback and push PUJ in one to 12 to partner Proctor.

We also need to boot Julian Savea, he’s so bad on defence now and Naholo is way more of a weapon anyway.

@Winger Lakai didn't do himself any favours though. IIRC, he was the one dropping the ball after catching it in the line-out; the Chiefs then kicked the ball and it ended up in a Chiefs try at the other end.

I feel like the Canes are doing Lakai an injustice, he’s so bloody young yet they keep switching him from open-side to number 8, to 6. We need to play him consistently in one position, instead of moving him around so much.

Chiefs dominated the ball in the 2nd half. Canes need new loose forwards.

Both Kirifi and Flanders (and lock Bird) were taken off. Bird was replaced by a loosie (Howden). Kirifi and Flanders by Iose and Lakai.

Canes need a top quality new head coach. Holland is not up to it. Find a great (as opposed to an OK) head coach and they might compete with the best teams

Chiefs look the real deal this year. They made the Canes look 2nd rate in the 2nd half. Losing Cameron was a big loss along with Proctor. Moorby looks OK but not good enough. Hopefully Love is back soon

But our lineout was well beaten after Bird was replaced (we need a taller lock in the replacements). And if Kirifi was replaced it should have been by Lakai. Its little thing like this that stuffs the team. I would have also had Higgins in the replacements so he could have come on at center and then Moorby can be taken off

Lol mate with those words of wisdom are you the top quality coach we need???

Don't worry taking the piss mate!! I just think we beaten by beeter team, and obviously would like a different result, but am genuinely not that pissed.

Unreal second half from the Chiefs. So proud of this team.

Some real impact off the bench for the Chiefs.

Rona didn't look out of place either.

No arguments mate, MacMillan is doing great job isn't he? Morgan is pretty ok at 10, but still needs a bit more experience.

The Canes looked suspiciously offside from some of those kickoffs, including when Kirifi tackled Jacobson in the leadup to Roigard's try. I'll be keen to see a replay.

Future All Black teams are going to be well-served at halfback by Ratima and Roigard.
I think Narawa plays bloody good footy too. Quick, takes good options and relatively mistake-free.
Finau was a beast when he came on.

Benches made a difference. Holland's substitutions explain why the Canes always fade in the 2nd half.

Chiefs brought on size, Finau, Ah Kuoi, etc.. & as usual Holland brought on his troop of lightweights...

Put Howden on (an undersized 6) for Bird, Iose for Flanders. Holland's selections are exasperating.

    Damn enjoyed that.

    Just finished watching.

Mid afternoon rugby (even if delayed on Qld time).

    Mid afternoon beers.

    Lots of action.

    Good footy.

    Lots tries.

    Right result.

Don't rely on me for coherent analysis though.

    😀

The drop from Roigard to Booth was huuuge!
Hope Holland doesn’t influence subs in ABs as that one was a pre-meditated shocker.

That Jordie decision surprises me, as he's clearly on the ground.

End result is length of the field turn-around with a good try.

Really? That was very close to being a simultaneous dive at a loose ball. Even if Jordie got there first DMac was committed.
Jordie looked and played like a gormless oaf today.
The Canes ABs didn’t really stand up.

Excuse the fuzzy memory, but was he whinging about DMac, or the next guy in?

Ok. Maybe so. But I thought he had already killed play at that stage.

@Crucial DMac was ok. Next guy maybe not. Don't think Jordie ever forced it, and he got tackled as he was trying to stand up. But not sure the law around being on the ground in-goal, which I think he was.

Minor incident, and no impact on the result IMO.

Hmm. Just watched this. Chiefs loosies carried the day for me. Jacobson my mom and Sowakula and Cane not far behind. Finau packed a punch too. Didn't realise Ardie was playing until the end. Rather anonymous. Retallick could have been mom too.
Roigard good again for Canes and best I have seen Flanders play. But PUJ looked a bit ponderous and Rayasi lacked urgency. Narawa and Rona were better in my view.

Another standout was Ollie Norris from the bench. Gets around the park well.

Was confused by the refereeing at times. Some odd calls at times but did not impact result.

Final comment is on DMac who I thought controlled the game very well and created lots of threats. He made some errors which were not costly. But that comes from looking for runners and territorial options the whole time. Must be a nightmare to defend against him. Morgan and Booth were not such a threat.
