Aaron Smith turns 30 in November. Is that old for a halfback?
He looked old out there. De Klerk reminded me of how A Smith used to be, hurdling players to clear the ball, snappy passing, quick thinking etc.
Food for thought. Think this test has thrown up more questions than answers for RWC . -

Understand the lack of boof from Scott Barrett, but watch him in the last 15 mins and he was into everything, tackling, linking, pressure on kickers and a try. Pretty good actually
Was he 6 at that point with Tuipulotu on?

I was hoping an AB would smash him in a tackle whenever he had the ball. Call that a back-handed compliment.

On Frizzel, he's way too raw for test footy. He needs a season of (starting!) Super rugby under his belt.
Stupid selection when we have Akira, who has proven himself against the Lions no less, playing domestic footy at home.
Frizell has no sting in his tackles. The Boks were easily making a metre or two every time they ran at him. He needs to up his physicality if he wants to play test match rugby imo. People are critical of Squire and he's by no means a great blindside, but at least he hits hard.

The worst part of this win ,
It covers up how shit we were ,
And it was off the back of a loss as well , usually when we come out and make a statement

@kiwiinmelb we won the week before v Argie. We had to fly from Argie and play at altitude. We only beat Boks by 1 last year in Cape Town. I dont think there's reason to go overboard on the worry.

Isn't he the defence coach?

But a totally catchable one - not a fast spiral, just an inside ball at his shoulder (a little behind him). He was set for it and should have caught it - it’s at the 70 minute mark, go check it.
Disagree. Next to impossible to catch IMO
Disagree. Totally catchable.
His hands let him down last weekend and that was another example.
Love his grunt and physicality work though.

But last year wasn't a target game. It was the end of season dead rubber.
Hansen specifically said that this game was a practice for two hard games at RWC. We were going to play the best team available and treat it as a RWC final. If we play like that in a RWC we won't be champions.
I too am reminded of a game we won 6-3 against Oz.
Last game against them many felt we only lost because we gifted them 14 points. Well that excuse doesn't wash in this one.
