    Peaty I’m guessing?

Very much so. But they do a more peaty option (octomore) and a totally unpeated option (bruichladdich) neither of which I’ve tried yet. The octomore is ridiculously expensive.

@dogmeat yeah I was surprised at the lack of 'warning' in SM, given whenever there is a meteor shower, eclipse or other similar event it is usually publicised, I didnt see anything, until after.

    They can't predict solar storms,

What do you mean by predict? The BOM was pointing this out days ago and typically only the really fast CMEs arrive in less than a day:

interesting (and i found fun) video reviewing the US$3k cybertruck tent attachment

they reevaluate slightly negative opinions as user error....but having a hand pump to inflate the tent when the values is so close too a power outlet does seem like a real miss and surprisingly analog

im kind of coming around....if they ever do a 2nd Gen im sure it will be sick

Two problem crocodiles have been targeted for removal by rangers after one came within "inches" of a marina houseboat resident and two canoeists spotted another while training.

Heading that way in a couple of weeks so thanks for the heads up ABC.

Ticwatch pro 3 is a great all rounder, although one of the main reasons I got it is it can have an esim and work independent of your phone and looks like that's not available in NZ.

Runs on wear OS and seems pretty accurate for tracking runs with ghostracer and throwing them into Strava.

@Winger I'll ask my SIL as she has one for an overactive kelpie that used to run off into other paddocks.

    Thanks.

The dogs are not too happy too now as they love their walk / run (and swim in the small lakes) every morning so really want to find a solution

Hilarious, and should be completely illegal, that Spark in NZ is trying to rip off old people for NZ$6/month to maintain their basic email account. What a scumbag company, what a non-existent commerce commission and competition regulator NZ has.

I used Nord fulltime and it had a few issues. Like so slow I had to turn it off. And also, automatically selecting the wrong country (Vietnam. WTF). Where it was super slow

So gave Kaspersky a go. It's in a different league to Nord. Outstanding so far after using it for about a month. On both my phone and computer.

give it a go although i admit when these things come up im reminded how poor my memory can be!

What was your favourite moment of 2023?
our club quarter final against the rich club in town who had topped the table after the round robin...we beat them at home in the final round (they were that far ahead it didn't change them topping the table)...and then went to theirs the next week and snatched victory with a lineout steal inside our own 22...kick it out...whistle blows...crowd storms the field...beers are had

(id post a small video because i love watching it but i dont think we can)

What was the best thing you purchased in 2023?
55" Samsung Frame tv, all mounted, cables hidden etc...so good, rolling through an album (every 15min) of our travels over the years, love it

What was the best thing you watched/read/listened to in 2023?
this is where i'll really fall over because i feel whatever i put down TV wise....someone will say something and i'll regret my choice....so i'll go with "read" ...."Project Hail Mary" by Andy Weir....couldn't put it down and have been considering reading again...which i almost never do

What are you looking forward to in 2024?
Can i say Dune 2?....other than that we have some trips planned including going right up into the arctic circle in Finland in january

i liked this thread so thought i would follow up my post with a couple of pics from our trip into the arctic circle

Just a quick update and thanks from my friend, Catherine.

"Did Mt Victoria, Te Papa museum, cable car, Zealandia, Botanic Garden, Lyall Bay, ferry across to Days Bay for a good walk. Amazing city, amazing memories. Please thank everyone for their suggestions - they were perfect!"

Thanks for all the input - was spot on.
