RWC SF: All Blacks v Argentina

"This wasn't how it was supposed to beeee" they wailed
"It was our time!" They cried
"Deseeeeerved" they sobbed
Delicious salty tears making the inevitable NZ v SA final even sweeter. Salted caramel if you will.
Lots oh wailing about the RWC "not being fit for purpose" because the beat team over the past 2 years got knocked out in the QF - "the Nations League can't come soon enough" they say. Cry me a river, you fucks - no one gave a shit in 2007 or 2011 when it was big SH teams getting bundled out at the QF stage.

There is nothing more tedious than a massive online ref whinge from supposed "neutrals"
Oh no, if only Angus had found ways to scrub off 4 AB tries, then they would only have won by
Checks notes
3 triesI thought Gardner was good today. Super clear in his communication. Didn't blow little shit, but obvious shit. The dominant team got the rub, same as always.
Irish fans thinking thats a stitch up are completely devoid of self-reflection.
I don't expect perfection, I expect a guy to manage thr game and let the players sort it out
(If I had a whinge I thinknthe worst call of the game was binning a guy for an infraction 80+ metres from.his try line with no warning)
Everyone goes against the ABs when they start winning. Especially from the British Isles, that’s nothing new.
Which makes Burgers comments all the more disappointing. That’s not the bloke that used to smash and be smashed by JC back in the day then have a beer afterwards !
Because he sees the same thing that everyone else sees, apart from those wearing black tinted glasses. Another fuck up of a ref shafting the weaker team on the micro decisions over the entire game. Of course it makes no difference to the outcome of the game. AB's were always going to hammer a poor Argentina side. But it does end any competitiveness and the potential for a decent game to watch.
Brilliantly one eyed bitterness.
Argies flopped all over the breakdowns.
Argies' game plan was clearly to disrupt the ABs' ball by infringing as much as possible and expect that the ref would swallow his whistle in a RWC semi final. Credit to Angus he did not and the Argies failed to adjust instead adopting their coach's victim mentality. Of course the ref made some shit calls - they do in every match. But let's not pretend the Argies were shafted of reffed differently in this match.

Just strolled through the NH media on X.
To be fair most were high in praise of NZ and critical of Gardner not the over arching point. Only true exception of this …. Walrus.
He’s playing so many of you like a fiddle.
If you want NH media AB fanboy level read Paul Williams. If you want superb analysis read Murray Kinsella.
Walrus has no place anymore, except in his own ego, and relies on winding ppl up to remain relevant.
Yes and our mate Paul sums it up perfectly in this tweet

That is a disappointingly pithy write up from Kinsella and nice to see Barnes calling it out.
There really is some quality whinging going on.

I share your view that Murray is generally pretty good, but he's a massive sook when it Ireland don't win and he's clearly still salty about last week. Tend to swerve him after an Irish loss

Rightio.. haven’t read through all posts but loved the game. Early on I thought we might be on the back foot for longer but Argentina were not patient enough. Really impressed with our defence and set piece. Our exits are still terrible and under more pressure I don’t know if it’s enough.
Really big shifts by the whole forward pack, including impact front row. Frizzel had a big day out even without the tries.
I did laugh though when coaching staff made a big deal about Christie being a better defender but his first action was waving an Argentina player through like he had a vip pass. Still he improved after that.
Can’t be critical of much in a largely aggressively disciplined effort! Well done ABs

I thought it was a sporting gesture myself.

Pretty farken funny when you have 60% of the ball and territory, a one man advantage for 20min and they're still not farken happy. I have zero sympathy for a side who constantly on the field are asking for YC for the opposition. God they would have been awful world champions.

The Jaaps followed the same path as Ireland - and now they're going to have England - on paper a tougher assignment than Argentina.
If they make the final they'll have played Wales, NZ, Scotland, Romania, Ireland, Tonga France and England. They might be getting a bit leg weary....
By contrast, with injuries, only one warm-up game and a relatively soft pool draw, if anything we went into the Ireland game a bit under-cooked. Now we should be done to a turn - and theoretically with the weakest SF opponent.
Let's hope they are.
I want us to win comfortably, with no injuries or cards, able to run the bench early (ish), have an extra day to prepare for the final, England and SA to smash seven shades of shit out of one another, and us to run out in the Final with every preparatory advantage!!!
Go us!!!

@pakman reinforces that scrum penalties can be a bit of a lottery. Refs struggle, but they are not given laws that help them do their job.
So why we award penalties for them when the ball is clearly won and available is a total nosense.
mate, if you want to put me in charge of remaking the laws, it's going to be ooooooon.
Mauls will go back to single use, and clarity on binding
I'd bring in scrum refs for internationals, and re-jig to take out the hit, keeping penalties for egregious play
head contact gets simplified, tackle heights dropped and post-tackle actions clarified - basically encouraging chop tackles with no popping off the ground. Rucks become focussed on getting the ball to dirt, and then pushing over. Shoulder first 'binds' get stopped
Water carriers and medicals become neutral - no more messages on teh field
Benches drop to 4 subs in the game at internationals. get body sizes down with the expectation you play 80
no more lifting in the lineouts - bring back the jumping contest -

clarified
This head contact crap in the tackle is ridiculous. What it has now encouraged the ball carrier to do is drop his head into contact and the tackler has nowhere to go.
