RWC SF: All Blacks v Argentina
-
Rightio.. haven’t read through all posts but loved the game. Early on I thought we might be on the back foot for longer but Argentina were not patient enough. Really impressed with our defence and set piece. Our exits are still terrible and under more pressure I don’t know if it’s enough.
Really big shifts by the whole forward pack, including impact front row. Frizzel had a big day out even without the tries.
I did laugh though when coaching staff made a big deal about Christie being a better defender but his first action was waving an Argentina player through like he had a vip pass. Still he improved after that.
Can’t be critical of much in a largely aggressively disciplined effort! Well done ABs

I thought it was a sporting gesture myself.

That is a disappointingly pithy write up from Kinsella and nice to see Barnes calling it out.
There really is some quality whinging going on.
I share your view that Murray is generally pretty good, but he's a massive sook when it Ireland don't win and he's clearly still salty about last week. Tend to swerve him after an Irish loss
Pretty farken funny when you have 60% of the ball and territory, a one man advantage for 20min and they're still not farken happy. I have zero sympathy for a side who constantly on the field are asking for YC for the opposition. God they would have been awful world champions.

The Jaaps followed the same path as Ireland - and now they're going to have England - on paper a tougher assignment than Argentina.
If they make the final they'll have played Wales, NZ, Scotland, Romania, Ireland, Tonga France and England. They might be getting a bit leg weary....
By contrast, with injuries, only one warm-up game and a relatively soft pool draw, if anything we went into the Ireland game a bit under-cooked. Now we should be done to a turn - and theoretically with the weakest SF opponent.
Let's hope they are.
I want us to win comfortably, with no injuries or cards, able to run the bench early (ish), have an extra day to prepare for the final, England and SA to smash seven shades of shit out of one another, and us to run out in the Final with every preparatory advantage!!!
Go us!!!

@pakman reinforces that scrum penalties can be a bit of a lottery. Refs struggle, but they are not given laws that help them do their job.
So why we award penalties for them when the ball is clearly won and available is a total nosense.
mate, if you want to put me in charge of remaking the laws, it's going to be ooooooon.
Mauls will go back to single use, and clarity on binding
I'd bring in scrum refs for internationals, and re-jig to take out the hit, keeping penalties for egregious play
head contact gets simplified, tackle heights dropped and post-tackle actions clarified - basically encouraging chop tackles with no popping off the ground. Rucks become focussed on getting the ball to dirt, and then pushing over. Shoulder first 'binds' get stopped
Water carriers and medicals become neutral - no more messages on teh field
Benches drop to 4 subs in the game at internationals. get body sizes down with the expectation you play 80
no more lifting in the lineouts - bring back the jumping contest -

This head contact crap in the tackle is ridiculous. What it has now encouraged the ball carrier to do is drop his head into contact and the tackler has nowhere to go.

saw Itoje carry once with his head about waist height. How the hell you tackle him I have no idea. Modern pro rugby doesn't encourage chop tackling - it's almost all 'dominant front on' tackling
It's almost at the point where you u have to allow the half break then smoke them from the side and below the ribs.
-
Oh come on, you've both been watching this RWC where I'm yet to see a penalty in a situation where the ball carrier has deliberately led with his head, to the point where we've even heard the ref state exactly that on the fly.
Stop getting your knickers in a twist about make believe.
