Brumbies vs Hurricanes

Morgan and Gibson went well today and the starting locks had great workrate. Shame about the rest.
Thought that was a clearcut penalty try with a cynical slap stopping an easy try. What is with Canes passing though? So many bounce passes and no lookers. At least Rayasi can catch those ones... Sullivan looking like a mirror image of Rioane at 13 amongst all of this.
Well done Brumbies. Their game with Blues will be huge. Swain and Valetini are immense. -
@Crazy-Horse similar weaknesses... And similar pace and glide on the break. They seem far quicker on extended bursts than any other midfielders.

Yeah I can buy those comparisons. I was thinking along the lines of Reiko plays centre like a converted winger (who is getting better there) whereas Sullivan looks like a converted centre when he plays on the wing.

@Crazy-Horse if both can keep improving their defensive reads and get better at completing breaks for the support player or tackle setup we will have great competition for AB's at 13.

And the Canberra hoodoo carries on for the Canes. We just never play well in the Australian capital do we.
I really don't know what the hell we are doing with all these no look passes on attack. James Blackwell is notorious for throwing them to the ground so why do we keep doing it?
As I said last week we really need an injection of someone like Dane Coles, his leadership and abrasive nature is something that we are missing right now.
We've arguably played the two toughest Aussie teams so hopefully we can get on a bit of run starting next week at home while getting some of our cattle back on the park.

For me that is a genuine chance of an intercept, should just be knock on to me.
Yep, a penalty at worst for me.
The graphic said that Jordie's kicking percentage this season was 58% - not good, even accounting for a few long-range attempts.
-
The error rates of the NZ teams has been pretty shocking this weekend. The amount of missed touch, out on full, dropped passes, passes to no one, isolated running etc etc. I realise pressure does things but fuk me some of the errors are schoolboy stuff.
-
@Canes4life Coles is a massive loss
-
Oh fuck me. The last try. "No separation" 🤣 there fucking was you cheating fluffybunny. He dropped it, it rolled under his chin/chest and ended up in the other arm. Pretty sure you'd call that separation and be happy to side with the intent of the law.

And now Rayasi is intentionally knocking it on, yet we're going to ignore the subsequent shoulder to the face that ensured he couldn't regather.
Nick, that's cheating.
you go for the one handed jump and intercept, you better be sure you had a good chance to get it. I don't think he did.
Agree the shoulder should have been looked at- but it's not super clear cut; it's jumping into a player as much as teh Brumby smashing him.
Too little too late though, the game is lost by then. Brumbies play some good structured rugby, but open up nicely as well.

@nzzp for me, I liken it to a poor pass from your team, you bat it up/back/forward and as you attempt to regather, are tackled by the opposition, so treat as a knock on...however in this case, it wasnt a tackle, so warranted further investigation.
As above, I thought the ref handled the game bloody well, but a few errors crept in at the end, not influencing the win/loss, but possibly a BP.

That the best description of what happened. Should have been a knock on call, and perhaps a reversed penalty for the shoulder charge.

Canes made some pretty poor handling errors... but disappointing to lose to a dour Brumbies team that lack imagination.
Rayasi was clearly attempting to catch the ball, so was a joke he got yellow carded... also shortly after that it was obvious the Brumbies player lost the ball just before the goal line, yet the officials awarded a try.
It's bad enough that the game is ruined with too many offsides, players killing the ball on the deck & forward passes... now the refs are handing out yellow cards like bloody lollies in this comp, also trying their best to turn a fair few of those yellows into reds.
