@Derpus we missed more than 20 too...86% vs 73%
we made as many as you attempted
Which is probably the positive for us: we made breaks, just couldn't find the right form of attack when it mattered. Little things

Thought Coles hit the mark with his niggly push and shove early on in the game. Bit of a statement ‘hey we’re going to keep coming at you all day‘
Hodgman was good on debut, solid in the scrum and effective around the park.
Cane was outstanding and Savea wasn’t far behind.
Would love to see Akira or Sotutu get a run on the blindside. Frizzell is serviceable, but just seems to lack the extra bit of physicality we expect from an AB 6.
Smith was Smith.
Mounga minus the stupid switch play that lead to the Aussie try was pretty good.
BB really good
WTF is Jordie doing on the wing? Didn’t do anything wrong today, but let’s get some pace out wide please.
Clarke, just WOW! Love the leg drive and determination to make those extra few metres after the initial contact.
-
You'd like to say that normal transmission has resumed but I don't know. There were still a shit load of holes in defence there and . Ultimately we have the better players and that showed today.
Clark was amazing, hope that continues. BB (at least in the first half) gave me a raging boner and the centre combo was sweet.
Reckon the back row could be a goer. Cane is just the shit (we'd be farked without him), Ardie had a great game at 8 and Frizzell has potential.

Yeah, there is no point having Jordie on the wing, particularly if he's not even taking the goal kicks.

He made some great tackles and looked for work. But I agree what is the point if he doesn't take the goal kicks

Just a thought , how would reiko go on the right wing ?
Wouldn’t that give us some strike power out wide ?

Depends if they see him as a centre now. I think he has been running harder this season compared to 2019 so I don't see why he couldn't take his higher workrate and transfer it back to the wing
-
@kiwiinmelb that was my preferred option.
I love performances like Clarkes, just oozes class and youthful exuberance, and then it inspires and reinvigorates some of the older heads too.

@BerniesCorner I understand your appreciation Laumape but i I think he’s a one trick pony. If he diversifies his game he might be something to reckon with.
Our current 12 looks like he no tricks, unfortunately
-
@junior we seem to be using him more as a defensive player, then going forward he just shuffles the ball along and those outside to do something with it...that first pass that went to deck, looking at where it was, I did wonder if Jordie (he had come across hadn't he or was it BB?) was supposed to be there, seemed like a pretty decent pass to nowhere

I reckon that was for BB coming through from 15. Watching Clarkes reaction was telling.

By my rough count he made 3 or 4 hospital passes, that long cutout pass to nowhere, and made one nicely timed pass for his outside to score. Not great on attack

If Korobiete hadn't been held up, had scored what would people's opinions be of the accidental obstruction by Aussie player in front of Marike taking out the cover defender?
Do you think try should stand or be ruled out? What do you think refs would have done?
I think it should have been scrubbed, think refs would have allowed it as they think defenders are mere hypotheticals who they hate ...

It was a definite shepherd for me. Should have been called anyway. I can't believe none of the comms kicked up a fuss about it

I don't like it, but refs allow it. Smart play from Wobs, obstruction inside gets play on, and creates space outside. Same with taking players out - all teams do it, we have to as well and get smarter
-
A much improved effort from the forwards. Tuipulotu took a while to get going but was much more aggressive carrying and tackling. Tu'ungafasi still looks way off the pace, as does Taylor. Coles should continue to start as he sets the tone with his niggle.
I feel much more secure with ALB in the midfield.
Even TJP played well. I think the less time he spends on the field the worse he performs as he becomes too keen and frantic.
A step in the right direction now. If Moody is out for a while who is the next LH prop in the queue? Bower?

I hate it. I would have disallowed Korobietes try the previous week as well for the 13 making (hard) contact with defender as the pass went behind him. But, I know I'm waaaaay out on a lonely limb with this view.
As for today, I genuinely think it was accidental, although modern players do purposely front run their support lines to get in the way. Which I agree is smart, way it is reffed these days. It wouldn't be smart to actually trip the defender, like today, smart to just be in the way.
