You're forgetting Folau, who is taller than Hooper.

be good in their lineout. Don't reckon he could hit the half back off the top though

Got to say, this fella Gatland looks like he knows a thing or two about coaching.

The odds on Gats becoming AB coach have dramatically increased I think

I hope he'll go back to the Chiefs.

We need a new head coach.

However, certainly improved his chances for an AB gig.

Looking at past 6N and TRC winners in World Cup years tells the tale of how highly this should be rated. He is building quite the CV though.

Personally, don't want Gatland coaching the Chiefs or the AB's, personally don't think the NZRU want him as Head Coach of AB's either.
I'd also rather he didn't clog up our limited coaching pathways for the next up & comer.
I wouldn't mind him coming in to the AB's setup as an AC. I like the idea of a Razor/Gatland ticket - Razor is clearly a great man-manager, man-coach, man-innovator, Gatland brings the ton of global experience to offset Razors lack of.
    I could see a Foster/Gatland ticket.

Concerned our attack-play has suffered since Wayne Smith left.

How quickly we've gone cold on Joe Schmidt, even if hes not "available"

This has been posted elsewhere on the fern but for anyone who missed it here is an awesome down to earth interview with Gatland.

I have to say after watching that my opinion of him has changed a lot. Also listening to players who played under him seem to sing his praises. Look what he has done with Wales, I can only imagine what he could do with NZ. Gatland, Razer and O'Gara sounds good to me.

Have never warmed to either Gatland or Schmidt to take over.

IMO I can’t see what else Scott Robsinson would have to do to get the job.

Each team he’s taken on has won, and played well. Can’t just say it’s the Crusaders system either, as Blackadder was rubbish. The new guys that they swap in for missing ABs don’t miss a beat.

So he would be my head coach (100 times over Foster). Gatland or anybody else would assistants at best.

International experience. They like it - Henry and Hansen both coached overseas before taking on the role. Coaching internationals isn't coaching a club/provincial side - some key differences with how your personnel are handled, who's available, etc.

Deans was a very good coach, but probably better at club than international level. That said, maybe the post-Deans results suggest he was outstanding 🙂

If we make that the criteria we will lose all our good coaches overseas.

Get an assistant with international experience. It’s transferable knowledge

Previously international experience has been specifically mentioned as desired and/or required. But I seem to remember Tew mentioning this time it was not a requirement, which I feel is a nod to Razor being in the race, where as previous couple of times he wouldn't have been. Deans was the last one considered without international experience, he had an even better (well longer higher level of success) but lost out due to not having a team.
