The sport itself? Certainly not. Greyhounds were bred to chase small things and run fast. Saying greyhound racing is cruel would be like saying it's cruel to make a border collie herd sheep.

It was more the way the greyhounds were kept at the track, the fatality numbers and the prevalence of live baiting. This is a link to the report.

I realise that and obviously that has to be fixed. But if the sport itself is sound they why ban it? It's not like it's cockfighting or dog fighting.

And please no puns about cockfighting please...

That sounds a lot like the Catholic church. Hopefully they will be next to be banned.

cats are as dumb as fuck. that's why they can't be taught to do fuck all - but they are also lazy and weak-willed, which is why they can be domesticated so easily.

how people can try to claim their inability to learn is some sort of 'i'll do what i like' superiority or positive character trait is beyond me - imagine if you adopted that logic with a child.

Boulder dash. Cats are too smart to do any of that shit. They don't see the point. Dogs are retarded. That's why they'll endlessly run after a stick, or remain loyal even if they're totally neglected. With cats you have to win their respect. Dogs are too stupid to realise they have an option. And you have to wash the grotty bastards.

Cats have been shown in meta-studies to have superior longterm memory to dogs - they do not forgive.

Their relative intelligence cannot be determined, because they simply will not do anything they don't want to. Truly a noble and superior creature.

Additionally, whole genome sequences have shown that cats most likely domesticated themselves. They found human settlements advantageous, so they chose to join them. They were not deliberately cowed by humanity - a trait that lives on through their Independence.

if you consider arrogance and egocentrism equivalent to noble and superior i guess. it also assumes they could do stuff if they wanted to, when really they just can't.

Yup, if I stood on my cats tail by accident, hours later she would come up to me pretending to want affection by rubbing up against my legs, the second I put my hand down she'd tear it to pieces then sprint off down the hallway to hide under the bed where I couldn't get at her. She used to terrorise my mates with that sort of stuff as well. Crazy, but smart.

Well Dogs are pretty much obsessed with food so reward based training is pretty easy with them. Cats are more obsessed with lying in the sun or playing with mice which they can do at their own leisure. If you try reward based training with a cat it will just look at you as if you are an idiot.

What is the point? A snack? A cat doesn't see the point in demeaning itself for food it will get fed anyway. If you were fed enough would you act like a clown or do something you didn't want to do for a cracker?
