I vividly remember Jordie throwing a wide ball to space in the Eden Park test.

JB looks to be a fixture in the 12 jersey with another v.good performance. It allows Beaudy to play 15 and have 3 playmakers plus a huge boot to take the pressure off Richie.

This. Don't need spectacular, just competent.

Lol you guys quoting and agreeing with a post that states Jordie is a play maker, while at the same time saying he's a crash and bash merchant that needs to work on his vision and passing game. Which is it? Can't be both.

a question for those with a but more knowledge, is it just me or do we not put our wingers in space as much as other teams seem too. CC was poor, and reece was quiet...but. it feels like we dont have any plays that are aimed at getting them on the outside of their man....old school winger with a head of steam and the white line ahead of them

if so is that us just thinking we can make more ground going through the middle with RI and jordie....or are we still struggling with defence coming up and opting to try and recycle?

For the last game, they started trying to go wide, and both teams dropping it in humid/slippery conditions moved the team to a more conservative game plan.

I think a fair comment could be that JB has shown how effective he is at crash ball and it will be interesting to see if he can also play the distributor in future tests. Stating categorically that he's just a smash and bash merchant and simply doesn't have the ability to distribute is pretty weird.

It's the Guardian. You have to be one to work there. But that obviously isn't confined to them.

@Crucial Don't know, but I assume it had to do with officiating his milestone game?

Nah I’m a few years off on that one. I still haven’t forgiven Chris White and Kaplan for not awarding Mils that try in 2003.

Foster mentioned him specifically in the post-match press conference, I assume that was what he was referring too.

I'd also agree that's a fair summation. My crash ball merchant reference was solely in relation to his 2 performances in 12 in black this year, and clearly against Wales this was the game plan

To reiterate, I think he's been really good, has done what was asked for sure. Shored up that channel on D, provided a great crash option, I think Richie has really benefited from having him there.

Where I take a step back is when people claim his best attributes are his vision and distribution. I mean, thats just bollocks. He is a beast of a man, runs hard, tackles hard, great in the air, with a big (mostly) boot. But he has hardly been creative at FB, and while he made have done some playmaking at lower levels, we haven't seen it in black - yet. As we all know, it's a lot harder to be an effective creator at the top level- time and space aren't there, scrambling defenses are better - it's just harder to make great decisions and to execute on them.

Fingers crossed he gets the time to develop there now.
