Havili and Cane don't appear in any of the photos of training that I've seen this week.
RTS, Jacobson, Perofeta, Reece, Vaa'i, Ardie, Akira, Ennor, Frizell etc all do, so I expect some of them in the 23, but not Cane and Havili.
There was an article from Hinton yesterday that alluded to Havili not far off, but Cane unlikely.. of course that could still mean both out, but Cane looks long odds for sure
That was guesswork from Hinton about Cane based on his history. He assumed that more care would be taken.
Sure its guesswork be he also made the same point as @Stargazer about who he had seen at training. Cane was still in his track pants for the skill units at the finish of Tuesday training. Media kept out of main session.
I don't think its an unreasonable guess and why I agree with @Stargazer , I'm also picking he wont play (my guess)

Cane might be taking it easy early in the week as a precaution with the intention of stepping it up later on.
I thought Havili was ruled out but then Ryan mentioned he was still an option. Looking at the 12 day protocol from world rugby it says: "No player will return earlier than the seventh day after injury, and any player's return will need to be approved by an independent concussion consultant."

What does that even mean, should you not be mentally right for every game? Do you play better with a final's mentality? Has that been our problem all year, we just didn't have a finals mentality?

Foster's ABs are normally happy with losing cos learnings and excitement for the next one. He says it all the time, I am not acutally joking, sadly

That's being a bit silly. We are talking about slight differences. Even previous coaches realised that a big key to RWC victory was being able to be 'up' for 3 or 4 games in a row and that was a difficult thing to achieve.
Look at how England, having planned for years to be 'up' for a likely semi against NZ then didn't reach the same levels in the final.
Shag used to say that he would know sometimes on a Tueday or Wednesday that the team was going to play big on the weekend by subtle differences in the mentality of the team. -

But you would hope with the number of resources available that the mentality of the players is not the only reason you win or lose. Going by recent results I would suggest Fosters ability to get the players in the right mentality has been fucken woeful.

Again, the minor increments we are talking about can only come alongside other factors. Are you going to be in peak mental state if concerned about errors you made last game or concentrating on a new gameplan or trying to remember new moves etc etc
I agree that the coaches have to do the best they can to prepare the players mentally but there is a reason that success breeds success (and vice-versa). Confidence is up and many external factors are removed as opposed to trying to create a clear mind. -

That is so out of line with the NZR rugby guidelines. If you even complain of a headache two days after a possible concussion you are on a 21 day stand down with light training only happening toward the latter part of that.

I'd like to see Dalton given a crack at the starting 7 jersey. He was excellent for the ABs last year, and was probably the most influential player in SR. He hasn't been so effective off the bench this year for the ABs but I think with Cane out this is a good opportunity for him to show what he can do at this level. I'm not convinced Ardie would even want to play u again.

Yeah, the back row got well beaten last week.
I think we were all a bit disappointed with Hoskins, although given the lack of game time, that's to be expected. Papali' has a similar story to tell after Cane went off but I guess the same can apply. And as I've alluded to plenty of times Scott Barrett should never ever be picked at 6 again. The man's a great lock, our current best lock, but is in no way ahead of either of Ioane or Frizell at 6.
I'd pick Ioane, Ardie & Papali this weekend to start with Frizell on the bench (if he's available). For all of Ioane's detractors, he has consistently performed against Australia.

Huh, really? I thought he had a decent game and showed why he's worth persevering with. Hit contact hard for a guy that's been out so long and showed a grind I didn't know he had. Plus those handling skills bring a whole lot of opportunity to those around him.
It's just a shame I immediately contracted a sniper to execute him, after he put in the grubber.
