Jordie didn't lead with his foot, he kicked it out instinctively at the last second trying to avoid landing on his back.
I remember When Billy slater was on the same charge ,
Then someone with too much time on his hands made a video of him doing exactly the same thing with nobody anywhere near him ,
dangerous and deliberate are two different things
Slater was a grub though so not surprised people thought the worse. He was the king of sliding feet first into players diving to score tries.
I hated him for that. Jordie on the other hand had a spotless record

You can't be acting recklessly if you are acting deliberately
and yet in the eyes of the law when in charge of a motor vehicle, if you are charged with reckless driving, it is deemed that your actions were deliberate or that you knew exactly what you were doing (Careless to Dangerous to Reckless) and you will very likely also end up with your insurer declining your claim if the charge was the result of an accident

That Ferald article still seems to be the only news. Must have had some inside sauce overnight and everyone else is waiting on Perth to wake up.
I saw Andrew Mulligan tweet the outcome, early this morning, but he deleted the tweet, so I couldn't post it.
This is the stuff article.
A Sanzaar spokesman confirmed to Stuff a statement was due out from the judiciary around noon (NZT).

Awesome if true.
REALLY want to see the end of DMac at 15 for a while.
Completely unconcerned with justice.
(if it were DMac for the exact same offence I would support a ban for a few weeks) -

@kiwimurph so basically it shouldn't have been a red card? Who'd be a ref these days.
After them saying that intent doesn't matter, now it does? Fun job.
-
@kirwan I guess the judicial process differs from the Reffing body, hopefully they dont publically hang him out like they did when reversed the one Gardner issued when BB was tackled in the air.
If they agree it shouldnt have been issued, deal with it like any employee review.

Another reason I think the report system from NRL makes more sense, we are putting a lot of pressure on the refs/tmo to make quick decisions that can have a major impact. I would be curious to know the stats of how often reds are not deemed reds by the panel afterwards. If it happens on a regular basis then we are accepting a certain number of reds are not warranted.
I think I would almost prefer a Yellow, Orange and Red system. Yellow is 10 mins bin, Orange is 10 min bin and replace player. Red is only for foul play like it used to be, ear biting eye gouging stuff.
-
@chimoaus not sure there was alot of immediate pressure, and he consulted with his TMO.
@Chris-B problem there is, the ref would then need to determine if it was a grub act, I mean reading social media (I know, I know) plenty said what he did was a grub act, deliberate blah blah...
I think 20 mins is a good long period to be 1 man down, then punish the player, not the team and fans.
We are trying to keep people attracted to the game, people dont want to see 14 v 15 for 70 mins, and if you pay $100 to go see a game, for it to become farcical due to a controversial RC doesnt paint the game in a good way

I was at the ABs France one where there was the (correct but stupidly later overturned) red card in the 12th minute. This lady in front was screaming in joy when it came out. Me and my mates were cursing it. Not cos it was wrong but that was the end of the competition. Even the ABs showed no interest in playing after that, it was a real waste of my 150 (whatever) bucks.
