A lot of talk about about Beaudy's achilles - Beaudy mentioned today it dates back to last year pre-RWC - wonder if that is the reason for his drop in speed over the last 12 months or so?
well isn't that convenient? I'm not old, I've just been hurt for 14 months (while continuing to play so i get my filthy Yen). Not my fault guv

@ACT-Crusader Yeah, can't remember how he played in super rugby that year. Fairly strong team overall though with a rubbish loose forward trio.
I wasn’t posting on the Fern at the time but had been lurking since the 03 Tri Nations, and I recall some angst/confusion on the Rush selection, Mils to the wing and Evans at fullback, Mertz back in the fold, Henry being Auckland centric with Tuitupo selection, Gibbes ‘are you kidding’
These aren’t my views and as I said earlier you could justify any selection eg Rush had a very good 04 Super campaign, but it did raise questions.
wasn't Rush there to help with the transition of the culture away from the boozy boys club Mitchell and Deans had allowed to fester? Good player, but that wasn't his main role.
Anyone questioning Gibbes had no clue about rugby. But also a good culture man.

Yeah a lot of Henry's initial selections were driven by the lack of leadership and the softness up front in 03. My memory is that he generally got a lot of goodwill for that because he looked like he was actually trying to address the issues we had in 03 (quite the contrast to Foster). This was only reinforced after seeing Hayman and Robinson belting Danny Grewcock in that first test in charge - kinda made you think things were going to be OK

- Shannon Frizell (10)
- Sam Cane (69) - captain
- Ardie Savea (45)
- Aaron Smith (93)
- Richie Mo’unga (18)
- Caleb Clarke (1)
- Jack Goodhue (14)
- Anton Lienert-Brown (44)
- Jordie Barrett (18)
- Beauden Barrett (84)
- Codie Taylor (51)

- Nepo Laulala (27)
- Scott Barrett (36)
- Hoskins Sotutu (1)
- TJ Perenara (65)
- Rieko Ioane (30)
- Damian McKenzie (24)
WTF? Dropping Rieko to the bench is dumb. Disappointed that Foster continues to overlook Akira Ioane who could be World Class. Frizell is unconvincing. Our exciting young specialist 8 is still stuck on the bench. Mo'unga is a fine player at Super Level but unconvincing as a Test 10. Our best Test 10 (twice World player of the year) is at 15, our best 15 is on the Wing, the Centres are the wrong way round. Arguably the most exciting young back in World Rugby, Will Jordan, doesn't make the 23. Rennie and his men must be laughing.

It was apparently after the last loss in the tri-nations in 2004 that the three coaches, McCaw and Umaga realised the culture had to change.

Looks like Cane just loves playing Aus...
-
@taniwharugby that right hand side looks like he's been avoiding fibre...
-
what is interesting, is that the highest tackle counts by 1 player, 4/6 games were v Aus, so does that say they change thier tactic and run at our 7 all day or do we set up for that?

Will Jordan on standby for the bench if Barrett doesn’t get through the rigours of the pre game.
-
It's all been said but absolutely baffled. The only place they've departed from their "plan" is to further fuck around in the midfield, with yet another untried option. Blaming Roane for the option taking is an absolute fucking cop out.
Aoane straight to starting 8 when Savea heads to the hospital.

The guy who pissed in a bar in Auckland? Well, the other guy, as I think Mils did as well.

Relax, guys. Our blokes' best chance is at Suncorp and then perhaps still having a shot in the dead rubber in Sydney.
ABs by two tries at Eden Park, cementing Foster in place for years to come.
Aussie venues the other way around. Sydders first 31/10, Brissie 7/11
Good point.
