You can't be coach for 8 years, still be world number 1 and only benefit from the coach who came before you. He's obviously a good coach.
Our game plan was still frustrating though. In the first half, England were on top and we were under pressure. So what did we do? We kicked the ball back to them at the first opportunity. Is that the coaching? Or do our players just have low rugby IQ? Why can't we be content with just keeping the ball, absorbing the pressure and striking later when we get on top? We have done this repeatedly over the past few years. Either our game plan is poor or Hansen has not been able to implement a good game plan for absorbing and confronting pressure.

Hansen has been a great coach, but I don't understand our tactics at all last night.
We picked a side to attack the lineout, then didn't even try that often, and when we did, failed.
As part of that lineout plan, we also appeared to have a plan to kick the ball away - no way that Aaron Smith attacking box kick wasn't under direction - and back to the bad old days of shitty chip kicks from Barrett. In fact it looked like we were so confident in our ability to dismantle their lineout that we didn't care about retaining possession in general - running into touch all the time as well.
And we lost all composure when it didn't work. A shit watch. -
After we lost to Australia in 03 ,
Ted and co when taking over , put lots of emphasis back into our forwards , Making them dominant Again,
It’s like we have done the full cycle, and it needs to happen again

@kiwiinmelb I am not knocking them just stating the obvious once they came up against the big boys. They exceeded expectations and good for them.
-
@kiwiinmelb said in Hansen:
@Chris Japan probably had no option. They are too small.
It’s hard to knock what japan achieved when they exceeded all expectations
Not Knocking them think they lite up the WC great to see them go well for Rugbys sake just stating the Game plan doesn't work against some teams

Get where you are coming from , I guess in Japan’s case they played to their strengths, if they had taken them on up front they may have got monstered more so .
That shouldn’t be the case for us

Eddie Jones was right when he said Hansen always thought about what was best for the game.
I think we went too far in recent times trying to be loved and always trying to project a positive image at all times. In the end the worse thing you say about a Rugby player is that they are nice. Time for the All Blacks to be more ruthless and nasty.
And, in any event, it didn’t work, because people will hate us no matter what as long as we are successful

I took Jones's comments to mean Shag's opinions on world rugby issues, such as the world league and the welfare of lower tier nations. I think he generally acts with class and is refreshingly honest but that doesnt translate into generosity towards the opposition once the game starts

Bridge was poor. Its a bit pointless arguing who was more poor. And really Bridge and Reece only made the starting team because of who they play for
Coaches naturally have preferences for the team they support. But a good coach has the maturity to put his preferences to one side and pick the best team. They must do this and also make it seem as they doing this otherwise its likely to create a strange atmosphere in the team. When Hansen picked Barrett over Cane it was obvious what was going on. Then what followed was a dreadful performance
Hansen failed the maturity test. As Wylie, Hart and Deans did before him. Henry and Smith didn't.
The next coach can't be Robertson. He's not ready yet. Go overseas and coach for a few years to prove he can coach outside the safe Crusaders environment. I just like the look of Joseph and Brown. Greta combination and Joseph is a perfect front person
Utter garbage. Bridge and Reece had both earned their spots and neither are to blame for what happened yesterday. You have ZERO credibility when you promote this Hansen Crusaders bias crap at the same time as blatantly ignoring how poor your boy Jordie was off the bench, in a continuation of his legacy of AB brain farts. Also, how much time have you spent in the AB environment, enabling you to comment on the atmosphere within the side??

Loses to Ireland. Lions drawn series. Poor RWC just finished. Hes a coach who benefited from Smith and Henry and great players to choose from but was badly exposed at the end.
Aside from our first ever losses to a really good Ireland team (the best I've ever seen) his record is quality and what I'd expect from a guy who's lost 7-8 guys from the greatest AB side of all time.
This is a bit like when John Hart's success of 1996-97 gets labelled lucky because he inherited Mains' 1995 team.
So much reinvention of history in both scenarios.
