Rebels v Hurricanes

That was a bit weak. Just hold it if you aren’t going to get there.
Time for that contract to be bought out
-
@no-quarter yeah feel sorry for him eh!
@Stargazer Goosen came on a while ago.
-
Lam with 4, Canes with 50, that will do thank you.
-
Went down the pub to watch. Left at 60 minute mark.
Should really have left after that bullshit bounce for the Canes' second try after 20 minutes. You just know when that shit happens that Barrett is going to win the game easily.
Rebels could have done with more accuracy at the breakdown, turning over ball at crucial times. And a halves combination that works. Debreczini is shit. Genia was hesitant because he wasn't getting options, then he was making some bad decisions himself.
Canes the luxury of presenting multiple options every rich so TJP could just Chuck it and someone would be there.
Some good moments from the home side but there's a reason the bookies were giving them $4 the win.
-
Good Canes win but Rebels need to work on their defense.
Some of the Canes new recruits look promising. Evans in particular but Henwood will be pleased with his first start. Even Booth looked promising when he came on. And Lousi continues his improvement at lock
Shields and Perenara are both playing as well as I have seen them play so far this year. And maybe give Goosen a run at 2nd next week with Laumape having one of his rest weeks.
I still don't think Aso is a center. His best position is wing. I would prefer to see Aso on the wing, Jodie tried at center (or Goosen when Laumape starts and Proctor is out) and Lam at FB.
Good win for the Canes but Rebels need a lot of work. The Waratahs and now the Canes have exposed their defense
and I might be wrong about Eves. He's playing well as a starting LH

I was so close to picking up Lam for my fantasy team this week, but I picked Jordie up instead. Crap.
Well, I have Julian Savea.
He had a good points haul in this game.

I think he came on about the 70 minute mark

Bit sad with both MAAAARRDDOOO and the sideline chick both trawling for affirmation in 1st half that this matchup is the same standard as NZ derbies.
so glad the Canes got around to using repeated stabbing motions to deflate MAAAARRDDDOOO'S raging stiffy-orchestrated cheerleading for Aus rugby tonight. Fuck they guy. FFS, giddy with expectation, he gets on the mic with Rebs coach and starts telling him how to use his subs?? Are you fuckign shitting me? The fucking gall. If I'm the Rebs coach it's "GET OFF THE AIR, SHITC**T."
Yeah I was thinking the same things.

Was at the game.
A few thoughts.
-
Rebels attack is so narrow. Their 10 is quite poor. As has been stated Mafi was the real key their attack.
-
Canes on the other hand play with so much width. Jordie, Barrett and Perenara allow them to throw wonderful wide balls.
-
Canes have some really athletic forwards with skills - Lousi, Fifita, Evans, Fatialofa, Aumua.
-
Jordie's defense has really improved - made some good tackles. He looked class.
-
Julian Savea is so slow live. His kick chase is really poor. Nowhere near AB quality anymore.
-
Ben Lam on the other hand was really good. Has to be on the AB radar - put in a really good punt and a low error rate.
-
Laumape very impressive. Runs good lines to go along with his mini bus power. Can really hit too. With SBW and Crotty seemingly injured constantly he should get more AB opportunities this year.

Savea's loss of pace and power is a mystery to me. He's only 27 ffs. This should not be happening.
He's done. There's others far better suited to the pace and power game ahead of him in the queue. Move over Jules.

@tim Yep, he was another. Still shouldn't happen though at such a young age.
He's not young. At least for a wing.
Players who get consistent selection on the wing after that age are very much the exception.
Even light guys like Terry Wright lose their pace at that age. Big guys find it even harder.
A track guy might hold it a bit longer, but they don't get the knocks.
