    Might be 'piece of string' territory there bro. See what the doc says - the interesting part will be what exercises they recommend you avoid to give it a rest. Might be some stuff that doesn't hurt but it still slows recovery.<br />
    <br />
    And a smack in the nuts!! lol your little monkeys had it in for ya!<br />
    <br />
    Hope you get a good diagnosis and a have a quick recovery. Take the time to get it right - you'll be shifting tin again in no time!<br />

    Very sensible advice there. Will just have be patient I guess. Hopefully nothing too bad.<br />
    <br />
    Yes my boys love to beat me up. Normally I have an early warning system when they approach the nut sack region but it failed on this occasion.

    And then I hurt my archilles <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ireful.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ireful:' /> (and 6 months later it's still sore, but I'm trying to ignore it)<br />

    Excuse me mods, could I merge the new thread with this one please?

    Its pretty simple way of looking at it Bart and more importantly IT WORKS. Well most of the time. My upper upper body is fairly lean....just that bloody gut to sort out - always the hardest and last place to lose it from. I guess it will just come with time if I continue doing what I am doing. I'm in no real rush afterall - still a fair few months until summer!<br />
    <br />
    <br />
    Re lean gains, that approach appears more of a lifestyle rather than a short term diet. People seem to adopt the philosophy for long term and as a result stay fair;y lean year round and even manage to put on muscle in doing so. But I think it still all comes back to managing your caloric intake whether it be over 8 hours of say 14hours (given 10 should be sleeping) like most of us do.<br />
    <br />
    I know its totally against the 6 smaller meals a day approach that has been drummed in to us in recent times but there is some good reading available against that approach with research etc to support http://www.leangains.com/2010/10/top-ten-fasting-myths-debunked.html . Worth a read.<br />
    <br />
    I'm in the same camp as most at the moment in that I'm not sold on it but from the experiences I've read about on line, pretty much all that have given this approach a go dont turn back to their dieting approaches of before and speak of being leaner and stronger than ever. I'm almost considering giving it a go for a month or so to see if there really is any benefit to it. Hard thing as always will be comparing actual results with what progress I might have made without making the change and just continuing on with what I am doing now. I suspect it there will be no significant differences, just a different approach in which case no gain or loss (other than my beloved proats for breakfast!!) Could it be worth a punt?

    no opinion on that, sorry, but I do recommend doing parallel bar dips for your chest, triceps, shoulders. I do them trying to keep upright position to work the chest more. 15-20 each set, 3-5 sets, twice a week. That's all, GL.

    edit, screenshot of the PDF aint working, despite showing before I submit the post...<br />
    <br />
    HOw to do it;<br />
    <br />
    Hold a straight barbell or EZ bar with your elbows extended and drag it up the front of your body until your elbows are fully bent. Pull your arms back as you lift the bar so it stays in contact with your body at all times. Because its a strict movement, you wont be able to use the same weight you would normally.<br />
    <br />
    Benefits;<br />
    <br />
    The drag curl prevents your front delts from getting in on the lift, leaving the stress where it needs to be, your bi-ceps.<br />
    <br />
    Can also be used on reverse grip curls, and the smith machine

    I'm still doing these, although have gone away from the high rep 1/2 pull ups I'd been doig-and must force myself to do them once a week, despite the discomfort.<br />
    Yesterday I did 15/15/15 dips, and 100 benchpress...25/20/15/15/15/10 with a small break<br />
    Today I did:<br />
    <br />
    <br />
    15 times:<br />
    5 pull ups (full extension). At the top of the last one, hold with chin on bar and do 15 runs (ab exercise)<br />
    30 second (max) break<br />
    repeat<br />
    --actually, you can take 1 minute break for the last 5 times, it's tough...ouch!great<br />
    <br />
    I strained my archilles back in Feb-felt torn a little actually, it's taken 3 1/2 months to come right, so will resume hill repeats steadily

    come to think of it yeah. You just lose a lot of strength, and in my case symetry, which is more important!! So will just go with the flow and see how it goes, operate when it comes along, and keep on keeping on until then. Training as per usual, just lighter weights for curls and probably pull down type things!

    funny you talk about shoulders, I know enough gym heroes who go for insane weights on shoulders, and bust them. Basically the weight has to be perfectly balanced, and the shoulder is not just muscle but also joint. Sure one can pack real definition on the shoulder but it is also real easy to break. The back on the other hand, well top of the back is more forgiving.

    Green tea helps in burn fat and boosts metabolism,<br />
    The recent study reported that <br />
    3 – 5 cups of green tea per day can help you burn more than 70 calories per day, <br />
    which amounts to 7 pounds per year...

    that is one of the things the doc said to Ness - old age. Or rather, the older we get the longer it does take to repair things. Very sucky!

    I have 3l+ of water, and then all my other liquids are additional. I have a 750ml bottle on my desk, the water cooler is about 5m away, so no excuse really!<br />
    <br />
    Friday night we had a farewell at work, I had 4 beers and a shot of vodka, but also had 1.5l of water during this time as well.<br />
    <br />
    @JK - I do have to reduce my intake when I come down to Auckland otherwise I I cant even make it back to Whangarei without a stop!<br />

    Cannot find that Supergroove track - on itunes. Got me thinking though, I'm trying to get a bit "looser" when throwing punches so funk could be the thing for bag work!

    Still off the bread. Good cycle yesterday, short run today and bring on the boxing tomorrow.<br />
    <br />
    After the eating blip on holiday, weight coming off again and saying hello to upper abs. Various core exercises (planks, leg raises, crocodiles, squat thrusts etc) seem to be toning the whole "trunk" quite well. Still waiting to see if the lower abs will ever make an appearance.

    You'd be surprised how many people up this way (pork eaters!) have never tried it.
