@Billy-Tell Fred Allen, Brian Lochore, Earle Kirton and Graham Henry.
Laurie Mains, John Hart and Steve Hansen weren't bad with the media either.
If you’re definition of good with the media is « gruff » then yeah ok. Hart was probably the most articulate.

I give as much of a shit about the coaches body language as I do about Sotutu's i.e. none.
What I do give a fuck about it is the fucking moron putting Barrett back at 10, and thereby basically giving up our intention and ability to score points other than by acts of individual brilliance. When was the last time BB, playing at 10, put a player in space by passing?
That consistency of selection at 10 was really the one bright spot in terms of seeing Robertson working towards something, and now he's chucked it - and on what basis? Beauden's mediocre run against a beaten Wallabies, where McKenzie came on and instantly the backline started functioning? What a fucking clown. It does not strike me as a great England team, our forwards are decent and we have Jordan and Clarke for a bit of brilliance, so we should still have the firepower to win - but I really have no idea what the fuck we are trying to achieve anymore.
-
@Landers92 for me, Telea and Reece provide very similar attacking threats with both ability to beat a man and initial acceleration, providing a nice counter to Clarkes power game, making Telea and Reece too alike to play together against quality opposition IMO.
Both have similar defensive issues and both can be a pest at the breakdown, so coin toss really.
Have to think this side is, on paper stronger than the one that faced England earlier in the year, the emergence of Sititi, Ratima/Roigard (over Christie/TJ?) Will running at the back, the growth of Vaai
Guess it all depends what game plan they have and if BB can follow it as to how he goes, sometimes it seems he is given too much reign to just play his own game that unfortunately is 2 yards slower than it was 4 or 5 years ago where his pace papered over many cracks, so now he needs to play smarter.

@sparky yeah strange. ‘Internal standards’ being fitness maybe? Unsure.
No it was off-field stuff. Definitely disciplinary.

@Billy-Tell giving the chevrons a workout these days mate.

Nothing much to ponder on with this team selection. Looks like a bit of a strategy reversal, to open up the game and go wider when subs join in second half and England is more tired.
Did not expect Ofa in the 23 and Telea over Reece must have been a close call. But nice to see our ball running props split between start and bench. -

It makes more sense to me to go Barrett-Barrett-Proctor.
14 IoaneTotally agree.
Plenty of Keynesians about here.

Big opportunity for Finau in this test
Razor has been obsessed with Jacobson in the loose forward bench role but he has been underwhelming in my view.
With Lakai in the wings and supposedly Blackadder and Papalii coming into the squad later in the tour - Finau's chance is now.
Finau was poor off the bench vs Boks in one chance so this weekend will see if he can improve
I suspect all things being equal Cane gets subbed off and Savea or Sititi move to 7

@African-Monkey I mean if you're going to go off on EdG being unfit, I would hope you prefer Tosi over Newell!
Newell is the ginger Nepo Laulala.
Harsh, I saw Newell gain a metre once. Once.

@Daffy-Jaffy I’m disappointed that Surfboard Jesus doesn’t appear to be a man amongst men (or boys) when in front of the media. Always seems nervous. Was he the same at the Saders or do I remember differently? Bit of the old Ron Manager (IYKYK) about him.
Yes Surf Jesus seemed to be more confident before. Now he's all froth and verging on wipeout. But if he can catch a couple of beach breaks we might be watching the start of something gnarly.
-
I hope they move Ardie to 7 rather than Sititi, seems unfair on a newbie to shift him between 3 positions.
-
And more urgency from Finau would be good. He's in a lucky position with so many of the other loosies injured (or not wanted).

Big opportunity? Really?
He’s been picked on the bench behind an out of form guy at 8 that will get 80mins regardless and the new star on the block Sititi at 6. Finau is likely to get 15mins max unless there is an injury.
He’s also not a typical impact player that is best used off the bench. He’s a grind-it-out for 70mins guy that knocks people over until they stop running at him. He’s not going to make a break up the middle of the park in the 75th minute with fresh legs carrying him 60m to the line
I hope he goes well if he gets a shot, but I really don’t see this as a “big opportunity “ for him

This looks like a clown show. I hope there's a result that makes me eat my words.

To be fair to Newell, he looks bloody solid at scrum time, which although Lauala was hyped up to be, he really wasn't.

One issue for some of these blokes is that they need regular game time to perform .
Think it was very good for Finau to play NPC.
