@gt12 Yeah, I thought he was very effective in that role against England, and we do struggle in the second half ...

Easy way to fix that I guess, tread water until Mo'unga is back.
If he comes back and is average, I'm going to enjoy the shit out of this place.

You expect him to have improved in Japan? 😉

Yeah, like the current player of the year did.

    Honestly, no.
But this coaching group seem to be hanging their hat on it, so fingers crossed.

McKenzie has been a significant upgrade on Mo'unga, one of the few positives this year is he appears to be finding his feet at 10 despite our loosies getting smacked around every game. Beauden's best position at this stage of his career is either at fullback or off the bench as a finisher.

If Mo'unga comes back then I think by far his best position would also be off the bench, and I've thought that about him since he first made the ABs. His game just doesn't translate to test rugby, always standing wider looking for mis-matches that don't exist. He ends up becoming completely anonymous against the better sides, and in the past it has led to Beauden trying to take control from fullback which hasn't worked.

Sir Wayne Smith: How the All Blacks can rule the world through attacking rugby - NZ Herald

Smith believes Scott Robertson’s All Blacks are attempting to revive the style that propelled them to 88 wins from 103 tests between 2003 and 2011 and the unrivalled success through to 2016.

“There’s no reason why we can’t return to that sort of rugby and that’s what the All Blacks are trying to do.

“If we play like that and we’re successful then the world will follow us rather than the other way around.”

No reason we can't return. LOL we never truly left, that's why we've been struggling with rush aggressive defence for years!

It's frustrating, cos it is not how the Crusaders played, yes there was razzle dazzle but it is SR and not many rush defence teams. It was hard nosed mauling etc that made them dominant (simplified obvs)

And yet the Boks have played their style for over 100 years arguably and Razzie just enhances it. I think it is more of matching the style with our DNA (overused buzzwords I know). That doesn't mean going back in time, it means playing to the strengths of our players so they have the most opportunity to thrive.
AND the success of the ABs until 2016 didn't mean the headless chook shite of recent years, it was rather pragmatic at times (Example: 2015 semi-final vs Boks, Carter just plugged the Boks in their own 22 and they couldn't escape in the last quarter). As a related side note; DMac does have that game if you look at the Chiefs. The rot seems to coincide with BB at pivot...sigh....
Anyway, at least that is what I hope this is what the prof means.

For those that haven’t seen the news on social media.

B.McCalister and H.Plummer in for C.Taylor and B.Barrett who are dealing with concussions. Billy Proctor returning home to be with his partner for the birth of their first child.

Love will rejoin the AB’s and Lio-Willie will stay with the squad.

... and the selection of development player Bell in the full squad now gets very interesting.

Wonder if we'll see Plummer given a shot and excel from the bench. Stranger things have happened this season....

It’s getting late to fly Paps or Niggles over. Does the Lio-Willie news mean they’ve dropped the idea?

Anyone heard the Ethan De Groot rumours yet. Very interesting if it gets out in the media.
Might’ve been the last time we see him in an all blacks jersey.
