One of the major points is how DMac is going to use the good ball that he is going to get from Ratima.
I'm a fan of long kicks and inside balls if spinning it wide isn't on.
I wouldn't mind not seeing a high contestable all day. Definitely no own half dinks.
How come DC or GF could reel off long territorial kicks or am I just old fashioned.

DM and BB tried. But they didn't always execute. Kicking out on the full, poor direction, taking the ball back into the 22. I hope they have been playing forceback at practice this week

They can both kick long but don't, it's gotta be tactics

We aren't box kicking nearly so much. Barely now. DMac kicked long but almost always to the opposition players

    5-3 split. Interesting!

That's against the spirit of the rules!

Some fragility there. Lineout will be under pressure if Nortje doesn’t go full 80. If a lock needs replacing and Kolisi plays the usual 60, Wiese will have to play the full 80.

It certainly is a bit unusual for the Boks.
I am quite intrigued (and have no clue) as to why the Bok management have gone this route.
Front row and 2 loosies. I expect PSDT will shift to lock at some point. They have a ton of faith in that engine of his.

Backline changes (assuming no injuries) will be interesting too.
Does SFM go in at 10 or 15? (could also go at 12).
Am covers 13 predominantly but could go 12 or wing.

Hendrikse is straight up swap at 9...

Nortje will catch a stray elbow at 30 and have breather. Then back on for 15, subbed and back at 65 when Kolisi targets a shoulder with his head.

Rassie?! Is that you lurking on here?
The skill with which these Bok forwards can get themselves cut and / or headbutted is quite something to behold.

Beaudie hasn’t kicked long for ages.

DMac did get some good purchase on the weekend in the 1st half. And surprise surprise we are playing in the right end of the field.

It’s the chip kicks that killed us. The same chips that killed us when McAlister and Mauger rarely made it happen.

Exactly and we have done them for years, so it must be by design and it utterly rips my shit

Cross kicks and chip kicks anywhere other than in their half just hand the ball back in a bad position. That's why I'd love to see what Plummer could do, play more percentages

See, it's easy to be a NZ rugby journo. Just read TSF. 🤣

Who the fuck on TSF wrote BB to 10?!

I'm talking about the facts about the team, not Hinton's wishes.

If Cortez gets quick clean ball it will allow the back line to set up deeper

If they do that I can see plenty of tries coming from 1-5 phase ball

@Stag yeah, he would have started again if fit, but the coaches are looking pretty silly right now having to play a rookie in an unfamiliar position when Blackadder very predictably got injured again.

This is precisely why you only ever pick Todd's son as a versatile squaddie or bench option - because he will inevitably get injured and cause too much disruption.

Wonder if the actual loose trio will be Cane 6, Savea 7 and Sititi 8 . Not much help in line out but would make more sense off the scrum.

Or you at least pick a like for like player in the squad, just in case

I didn't realize Nortje was such a revolving door and given Etzebeth was already on so many minutes I take back my initial assumption the Boks will be that much stronger.
But we will possibly be quite a bit weaker and losing Clarke hurts. Hope the ABs play out of their skins and have some new plays. One thing seems clear to me now, this is Razor's favourite midfield. At least, defensively.

I don't recall Foster starting his reign against such good sides?
