@ACT-Crusader the funny thing about Savea's 2023 form was he played fucking TIGHT. Think back to those RWC play-offs. He was all graft. Carried in the tight, actually hit rucks. Was far narrower than at any other time under those coaches. He was like a different player. Less YouTube shit, just hard footy.
Big ups to his Japanese sabbatical. Perfect preparation for test footy
in fairness, it worked for Jerome. He came back niggle free, fast and fit.
The problem is it's Ardie who will run out on Saturday, not Jerome
Point is it isn't the sabbatical that's the issue (necessarily)
-
Right, so the rookie that actually plays 6 has had his confidence shot so isn't being picked. Now it's time to throw the other rookie in out of position in a must win game against SA in SA. Makes perfect sense, not a massive fucking gamble at all.
-
if that is the actual team, then i cannot wait to hear the official chat around it.
I didn't think the starting side did too much wrong. BB paying the price for those kicking errors i guess we all called for, but that resulting in an entirely new back 3 is a huge call.
TJP has his best test of the year and gets the chop is a big call.
A Blackadder injury obviously forced a hand. That hand being Sititi as a complete rookie in an unfamiliar position is a huge call. A rookie who is my height i might add. The saffers will be hunting that Savea at 2 ball hard this week.
Then the bench is the same as last week, except, seeya Finau, that's your immediate test future cooked. But, more interestingly, Jacobson comes on to the bench. Which makes sense if you think Finau just doesn't have it, and Dalton is still unavailable. But if Dalton is available this is fairly big call.I'll sort of need to see to believe.
-
I was actually wondering if Finau's May shoulder injury was more serious than thought.. just a stinger the media said at the time but he wasn't even hard-tackling with highlights regularity..

Whoever we put out I just hope we smoke these Saffas on Sunday. So sick of 'We are the best ever' chat on social media. We need to remind them that the ABs are not to be messed with and bar the f up.

They lost at home to the Irish. A team we dispatched in the quarterfinal.
Let them get excited about something - being a world champion as a nation declining to emerging market status must bring some element of joy.
It may be argued that our team has actually declined.

thread moving too quick to read it all, this been mentioned?
-
@Canes4life we don't need any reminder of who the ABs are mate. Even as our greatest rivals you've had the wood over us for most part. Little purple patch here for us sure .. but we know any game is always 50/50.
And that makes it great. Enjoy the occasion this weekend. Should be epic

Yeah there is a team posted about 16 hours ago that aligns with this

You too mate, and I know the Kiwi and South African rivalry is usually always in good taste but there are always a few from both sides that get a little too big headed. Go well on Sunday, but not too well.

He was the exception tho, more come back weak
unless I am totally misremembering

Marc Hinton is a giant fucking idiot who should be ignored at all costs
-
@mariner4life yep and I loved it. He was a colossus in the final 3 matches because he was in those tight exchanges that really matter in knock out footy. Maybe we need Cane to get red carded again for him to be that player…..
Looking forward to when the team gets announced and the ensuing gasps!

Marc Hinton logic - "BB dropped for shit kicking and option-taking - pretty keen to see him get a run at 10 though eh"
And he makes it sound like Beaudie is some newbie - wanna see him tried there - like he’s never played there before and without any regard to the fact he has put us under quite a bit of pressure in his most recent outings in 10
-
@JK how long do you persist with an injury prone player like Blackadder? If he has two more injuries in the space of year I’d be tempted to invest in someone else. I love his intensity in principle but now what are our 6 options. I’d rather have someone like Akira.
