I think I read somewhere that England are coming over for a tour in July. That should be fun!

I think the starters almost take care of themselves, it’s the bench and the wider squad that present the bigger questions…

    Groot
    Soni
    Lomax
    Lord / Vaai
    Dogroll
? (Finau, Blackadder, A Ioane, Vaai)
    Papalii
    Savea
    Roigard
    DMac
    Telea
    Jordie
    R Ioane
    Stevenson / Jordn
    Jordan / Stevenson

I expect Taylor will continue to start at hooker. Telea could switch back to the right wing depending on who is at 15.

Ardie is not a good captain. Under pressure he plays harder, but gets emotional and makes poor decisions.

@reprobate and what's the alternative? Scott Barrett who has brain explosions on a regular...

I've been impressed with Ardie's captaincy this year, I actually think he's matured a lot compared to when he started captaining the side a couple years ago (when he was prone to make silly decisions).

Yes, pros and cons for both Savea and SB as captain.

ClubRugby.co.nz understands that T Ellison who recently departed the Wellington Lions as their head coach, is taking up a role with the incoming All Blacks coaching team, following another stint with the Crusaders.

Another reason Ardie Savea should be captain moving forward:

Can anyone honestly see Cane making it next year ? He’s been a very good All Black. Played an absolute blinder against Ireland but ( harshly or not ) shat the bed in the massive moment that counted.

I think he’s done and will get jettisoned Gary Whetton style.

@Tim you’re not allowed to comment on this. Thanks mate.

@MN5 he's going to struggle to make the team I suspect.

An absolute warrior, but limited. Game of his career in the QF, adn looked good in teh final until the card. Love him, but I think he unbalances the trio (like Ardie, who's arguably more unique by some margin)

@Canes4life No, that's a reason that he's a good bloke - but has zero to do with whether he's a good captain.

@Gunner Ioane is not and will not be a lock in at centre, we need a distributor and real reader of the game at centre going forward

@Stag that we dont have, and despite his limitations, Ioane is still developing (not ideal I know) but I think persevering and building a backline around him and Jordie is important.

Sam Cane has been off the pace for a while now with one exception, the Ireland game. I have never seen an AB No. 7 so ineffective as during some games in the 2022 season. And part of the ABs loose trio problems in the Foster era was playing multiple 7s at the same time.

@Old-Samurai-Jack green is exactly what we need. A clean start and 4 years to work with…

@junior I don’t think Vaii should or will get near another AB squad, unless he shows massive improvements at Super level.

Cane was great in the do or die test last year as well as those noted this year. Has he picked up his super option for 2024? With his injury history though, makes you wonder how much gas there is in the tank.

@taniwharugby completely disagree, need to rip of the bandaid now and get a genuinely international class centre in place for 2027

that would be good defensively, no?
