can i just go back to this for a second and talk about how far we've come, a picture including George Bridge and the "shit" label isn't pointing at him

@Kirwan It didn't cost us in 2019. It has been discussed to death that the problem in that England game was our forward pack, not the backs. It's only some people on here who like to blame certain backs, RM in particular, for that ABs performance.

Don't agree at all! Our forwards got smacked around in the first half, but we got ourselves back into that game in the second, but every time we had the ball in a decent position there was nobody directing play so we made stupid panicked mistakes and gave it away again. RM being both the playmaker and completely anonymous was central to that lack of direction in the second half. That is tough on Mo'unga, as he shouldn't have been in that position given his lack of experience, but at the end of the day he had a shocker, and it's very difficult to win a knock-out game when your 10 plays poorly.

@Kiwiwomble I don't see how that matters. He made a try-saving tackle. So the statement that he is a shit defender is simply not true and there's no proof that Dmac is any better.

Let's see. DMac stopping a Fiji certainty in 2021 (similar to the RM video posted)? Also I recall try savers in the corner against both LF and Telea.

Generally though he puts his body on the line more than RM and is tenacious enough to hang on for support. Hardly ever gets stepped.

Obviously not who you want isolated 5 metres from the tryline but there's plenty like that.

You can bet that Ravishing George Bridge was no hope of catching him from behind in that situation.

@MN5 to be fair to George he was probably too busy wondering why anyone would want to evade a tackle...

Zarn Sullivan has to be an All Black this year his form warrants it for sure.

With all due respect mate, perhaps slightly coloured lens in your glasses, he going well, but would be surprised if there a spot for him at higher level just yet.

There are a few games for the All Blacks XV, a chance for him in there.

Yes, these games will be used as a de facto AB trial.

Really don't know what Kiwi teams are doing developing 10s. I honestly think the Aussies have more of a handle on this with Carter Gordon of the Rebels. DMAC appears to be the sole candidate to take the spot next year.

    @SBW1

Today I watched the YouTube highlights of NZ V France at Forsyth Barr in 2018.

    DMAC at 10.

    He was superb !!

Scored two tries and caused havoc.

The rest of the Aussie first fives apart from Gordon are not up to much I don't believe Australia are ahead of us in developing First fives.
I think the Australian teams would jump at having Mounga,Cameron and Barrett in their starting fifteens.

Mounga and Barrett are where our depth will be tested next year. It is possible we may use guys like Moorby, Love, Sullivan, Heem by interchanging their positions and getting them to specialize more as 10s.

Cameron was class for the canes until he was injured. His defense and robustness may be an issue though.

Why would they try to convert players like Moorby, Heem and even Love into 10s, when there are genuine 10s available? Love has potential as fullback, but he hasn't been convincing at 10 just yet. Heem and Moorby aren't even close to being considered as 10s. I'd rather see them develop young 10s with potential.

For next year's 10 jersey and back-ups I see Dmac, Perofeta and Sullivan, with Godfrey as the up-and-comer.

Don't forget Burke. I am not saying he is showing AB quality but given the dearth of options I think he'll be in the conversation.

The back line that day was :

    Smith
    DMAC
    Ioane
    SBW
    Goodhue
    Naholo
    Ben Smith

    Hook it into my veins.

DMac has done enough to be given a shot at 10 in a black jersey prior to the World Cup. Up to him what he does with it.

Which of the following fixtures would you give him?

    vs Oz @ MCG
vs Springboks @ Mount Smart Stadium
    vs Pumas @ Mendoza
    vs Oz @ Forsyth Barr
