What I would counter is that White kicking that goal to go up 3 was composed. Ol mate Giteau and even Foley have missed easier ones in similar positions in their careers
Plus when we had phase ball after that final scrum, back in the day you almost could guarantee that some tight forward (ala Greg Somerville, John Afoa etc) would’ve just dropped the ball cold. We actually built nicely and Coles I thought made a smart play not to get held up when he was just cms from the post/try line.
The offload to Jordie and to score - that’s a bit of composure when the choccies were on the line.
You are far too positive for my liking. I guess you could say there were some brief moments of composure in amongst all of the absolute chaos. Definitely one of the most entertaining games of footy I've ever watched, that comeback from Aus at 13-31 down was one of the best I've ever seen.

delaying taking a penalty is free kick...but time wasting is a penalty...but what is delaying taking a penalty if not time wasting?...realy feels like one rule was written my someone that didn;t know the other existed

@mariner4life I agree with you that they should be looking to start the same team as much as possible. What's hampered us this year is we haven't been able to introduce new players to test footy from the bench as we've been under the pump so often.
i think our bench has been an issue performance-wise. I don't seem to recall too many guys coming on and immediately impacting a game positively. And that definitely would have impacted the coaches thinking.

Not really.
I once watched a team reduced to 13 in the first half, including their halfback, pull away in the second half, to win quite convincingly. It was bizarre to watch 13 boys utterly dominate 15, but that's schoolboy rugby for you.

We did the same once in a Senior Club rugby game. The fact that the opposition had a big (but not very bright) midfield who thought they could run through you (while ignoring the two man overlaps) was a great help. -
I don't want to argue the legality or probability of the ref decision but the general principle-do you want players to hold onto the ball and do nothing for the whole last minute of the game? I don't. But I also hope they clarify the laws.

Obscure and inconsistent refereeing just one of many reasons rugby is sliding fast in this part of the world.
This is totally illogical.
I haven't seen anyone red carded for deliberately kicking someone in the head this century but that doesn't mean that it won't happen if someone is that stupid.
Face the facts. Foley fucked up and the consequences were big. Just like how a missed tackle in the dying seconds has consequences. Or conversely a ball carrier getting slightly isolated and losing their team a chance to continue.

yes. That is what is upsetting me about the ABs, and to go to your earlier point about the fun of rugby being lost a little here. I don't mind the ABs losing to better teams if playing well but perhaps we are so critical because there is so little growth (and probably some stagnation) in the ABs for the last few years.
I can think of Samisoni and (sometimes) RI improving (and props improving) but the backs and loosies have mostly gone backwards, and our tactics are stale.

so if the never-ending Fern project of JB as 12 starter eventuates is there a chance of Sullivan or Perofeta at 15? I was hoping they'd play Jordan at 15 but his tackling isn't currently very reassuring.

I’m not as down on this because I was pretty resigned to the fact that it was going to be a roller coaster ride in this 2020-2023 cycle.
Some things frustrate me from my armchair viewpoint because you sense that it could be better and some of the boys are capable of better. But there are some upsides which I try to focus on. Not always easy because rugby and sport more broadly can be an emotional ride.

George Bridge has been playing fullback for Canterbury and he knows the AB systems.….just saying 😀
