Wish they would play Jordan at 15. The problem is BB is a crap goal kicker so his brother has to play.
BB is on borrowed time if he keeps trotting out nothing but aimless midfield bombs.
At least they improved the front row.
I think against the Boks, Jordie is your man at fullback. We’ll need his long kicking game and he’s our best back under the high ball. I’d be trying Jordan at fullback versus the Argies.
Jordie biggest issue is can he get through 80 minutes with a low error rate and without a major brain explosion
This wouldn't be so much of an issue if he was kicking 100% of his kicks for goal, was using his boot to greater effect to win the territorial battle. He doesn't have to be overly creative, but he needs to inject himself into the attack more effectively. Be defensively sound. Like Mils used to do.

Happy with that except for bench loosie.
Bravo on starting Taukei’aho but surprised that Taylor isn’t on the bench? Also should’ve started Barrett at 6 with Vaa’i at lock with Akira fresh off the bench running against a tiring Bok pack. I’m not a Frizell fan at Test level & I’d be pleasantly surprised if he adds much off the bench.
Clarke is a bold pick given he hasn’t played in what..2 months?
If Ioane is to make the 6 jersey his, this is the type of game he needs to play well in. Time to deliver consistently. I think he will.
I’m an Akira fan but my concern is he’ll spend most of his 60mins in the tight physical exchanges. Might’ve been better to let Barrett do what he’s good at before bringing Akira on later in the game. But yes this is definitely his time to shine.
Nah, if he has to play a tight 60 minutes then so be it. I think he gets wasted standing wide. He became far more effective in the 3rd test when they moved him in closer. Plus, SB is not a 6.

Like he did after playing a lot of rugby at fullback. Unfortunately, he's played most of this year at 12 hasn't he?

So I guess the Ireland debacle was all Taylor and Reece's fault aye?
I mean Taylor played his part stinking up the joint but very harsh on Reece, I'd like to see him on the bench as he could make a real impact late in the game
The reserve backline mix is all wrong. Either Rieko or one of the Barretts would need to move to the wing if Clarke or Jordan went off injured. And then Havili to centre - that worked out well in the 3rd test.
One step forward with ST starting but then one step backwards with other selections.

Fair point. Hopefully he's got his FB head on and he's been given a simpler set of instructions to follow.
Back to basics - that's the theme for the Rugby Championship (to borrow the great Phil Jackson's methods).

I think it’s simple 10 or 15 get injured/replaced Mo’unga comes on.
If 11-14, QT comes on. QT plays centre if Ioane needs replacing. If a winger, then Ioane to wing and QT to centre.

@ACT-Crusader So Havili is only a 12? I still question if he is good enough there at test level against anyone not named Australia.
If you have Reece on the bench you cover wing without having to move Ioane, and can use JB as the backup midfielder if one of them has to go off. QT hasn't played centre much recently.

Pleased with best in form hooker finally getting a run....and that's about it... So hard to feel any confidence.
Lots of concerns...
Akira and frizzel both bloody frustrating at test level so far...Havili and reiko not an exactly creative mid field combo, Wings will have to go looking for opportunities as they won't get put in space by these two...that's IF they get some front foot ball...
SA will be looking at 12 13 with glee... They were Swiss cheese last test
Can see Clarke being peppered with high balls...
Boks by unders for me... Just hope we put a better performance together... But not holding my breath

This is intriguing, so many posters pointing to Ioane not being up to scratch, but I really can't see why. From my hazy recollection, he's had some great tests (which I can't recall many other 6's doing in recent memory) and a small set of average ones (i.e. Frizzell level). He's definitely top of the tree and has shown an ability to perform to a high standard against good opposition, so I'm not sure what people are judging him on here (or expecting).

Which tests was he great in..maybe one. I don't recall the rest..
He's had great moments for sure, but I haven't seen him dominate opposition like I believe he can....particularly in defence.Sincerely hope he has a blinder on Sunday morning.

Judging him against Kaino I imagine.
All 3 of the "greatest backrow in history" improved over time, but Kaino especially had to develop to become the great 6 that he ultimately became. I seem to recall comments about him being a great athlete, but not being so great at the tight work.

He should basically be our Frans Steyn, using his massive boot and his bulk to get the team into advantageous positions.

Tough on Reece who was one of the few who didn't let themselves down in the Ireland series and I don't get Frizzell on the bench ahead of Sotutu but, apart from that, seems a pretty standard 23. Amazing that Bower seems an automatic choice after so few Tests
Hope Akira continues his progress (don't think he's anywhere near his potential yet) and Havili gets over the yips and has a good game. Oh, and BB not to kick like shit.

I would’ve preferred Fainga’anuku on the bench.
Yeah Havili has only been used at 2nd 5 for the ABs. For me he starts or not in the 23. A number of players in this AB squad still proving themselves at this leve and Havili is one of them.
