Would you rather have Rettalick in the 23 or Frizzell..
-
@Bovidae Every other top test nation is playing a lock at 6, S.Barrett offers everything we need there and is necessary to complete an otherwise incomplete backrow carrying 2 opensides (Cane+Savea) which Foster is welded to.

After watching the Welsh test again, SB could do everything that Frizell did as a 6. I would hope that our blindside flanker is more effective when carrying the ball.
Everything and more. Starting SB at 6 would allow two loosies on the bench too - Akira and Harmon.
-
@kiwi_expat Wow didn't know that.
And I used to think that Ireland France Wales Scotland and Argentina had gone the more the other way like NZ. And come to think of it doesn't South Africa use Kwagga and Aussie Samu and England Willis off the bench?
Actually Woki and Beirne are more like loosies playing at lock. How have their teams gone when adopting the opposing philosophy?
Really only England then?
Nevertheless I agree that Scott Barrett is a good option to balance out our smaller number eight. -

I think when Brodie comes back , scooter plays 6 , Akira is on the bench and frizzle misses out .
7 is the bigger headache , I think dalton is going to move ahead of cane in value further, particularly with ability to carry over the gainline as well as do the defensive stuff .Shows what a bit of consistent game time in the right position can do for standout super rugby players in top teams might also be something to consider.
Ok it seems the consensus is yes.
My view is different, SB is better at lock than at 6. Whether that means he shouldn't move to 6 to fix somewhere else, I don't know. He's actually not that much bigger than Shannon or Akira. -

I'm sorry I was replying to another post I thought and it was moved to this thread. Maybe I replied to the wrong post or the connection got mixed up in the move.

What to make of Jordan's "inner ear issue"? Possible concussion symptoms?
If my memory serves me right, a few seasons ago he had the same issue. Kept him out for quite a while. Back then they thought it was concussion at first but later realised it was 'inner ear'.
-
@Crazy-Horse Same as Ben Smith, isn't it?
-
From personal experience, coz it's all about me me me, I had an inner ear inflammation 10 or 12 years ago.
I suspect there are degrees of these things, but this hit me out of the blue, was the most unrelentingly unpleasant experience (imagine the most intense dizzy spell from the worst hungover of your darkest nightmare), and took months to fully resolve.
Acute vestibular neuronitis was the doctorism used.
No specific cause, but likely result of irritation from cold or flu.
I just wish him well.

No, the French team has a 6 (Woki) playing at lock.

Actually, I only see England and SA playing a lock at six. Ireland, France, Australia, Scotland, Argentina and Wales aren't.

Potentially Beirne gets selected at 6 when Ireland are at full strength.

Hard to judge, I don't see how they directly compete.
I'd like the best overall team on the pitch. Strange, I know.
Unlike many here I prefer SB at lock to 6, as I feel at 6 against those lowdown cheating opposing loosies his tackling lacks a certain sensitivity to the laws of the game. And he is very good at lock!
But as long as the All Blacks win the next RWC, and stomp everyone into the dust with power and elan and a touch of aura in the process, I won't complain. -

he's kind of between the two positions in size isn't he? He didn't stand out to me in the game I watched.
