SRA Round 10: Highlanders v Hurricanes
-
@bovidae it feels like our wings and centres are on some sort of rotation no matter the opposition. Why can't coaches in NZ just pick a 1st XV and stick to it unless injuries strike or the form of a player dips. Again, the forward pack looks far too much on the light side so unfortunately, Ruben Love will continue to run the show on the back foot.
Surprised by the inclusion of Patafilo, he can be electric at times but I wouldn't pick him ahead of Aso or Toala.

They are probably too scared to play PUJ too much in case he breaks. Unfortunately, the UJ brothers seem to be made of glass.
Aren't you talking about his bro? PUJ isn't injured that much is he?

The last season or two have been quite good for him, but he has quite the history of injuries too I think. I like him, I hope the injuries are behind him.

The Hurricanes squad to face the Highlanders is:
1: Xavier Numia 2: Dane Coles (C) 3: Tyrel Lomax 4: James Blackwell 5: Scott Scrafton 6: Reed Prinsep 7: Du'Plessis Kirifi 8: Devan Flanders 9: Luke Campbell 10: Ruben Love 11: Salesi Rayasi 12: Ngani Laumape 13: Billy Proctor 14: Julian Savea 15: Jordie Barrett
Reserves: Asafo Aumua, Fraser Armstrong, Alex Fidow, Isaia Walker-Leawere, Brayden Iose, Cam Roigard, Peter Umaga-Jensen, Pepesana Patafilo
So he's the lucky one of the four players who haven't had game time this year. Vince Aso, Danny Toala and Lolagi Visinia not getting a single minute in SRA.
Is Goosen injured?

Early on he was. But he was a fine for the Canes last year (when he finally got a start) but lasted just a few minutes when he came on early for the ABs. Head knock I think.

So that's 3 starts on the bounce at 12 for Gregory, IIRC he has started only twice at 12 for Northland, the position most who have seen him play over the years, see as looking most comfortable in.
-
@canes4life that’s the reason why the Hurricanes don’t hold onto players, they keep playing the same guys over and over again
-
@yeahtheboys it’s always the wrong players though. They need to get the balance of consistently keeping their best players on the park while occasionally bringing in new talent, giving them a taste of top flight footy. No team does it better than the Crusaders.
-
There is some absolutely bizarre selections going on in pretty much every team now eh. It used to be "oh well I'd prefer player X but player Y Is still good and is selected in position".
Now it's like BURN IT WITH FIRE
What the fuck is going on in NZ? I blame Robertson and Mauger last year for kicking off a trend, shuffling superior players into a position they're crap at to allow another player to play the original position (after having also been moved out of position).

Nah 2 reasons Holland’s love obsession with Savea and Goosen looks horribly out of touch this year. -

Because we can have the worlds best wing not starting at least 6 games this year remember 2015 😂

Yes, a minor one: https://www.thesilverfern.com/squads

@mackerzzzz I said how long it would take the Hurricanes social media team to take down my negative comments. FYI I thought apart from the lack of a full stop I thought it made perfect sense.
