SRA Round 10: Highlanders v Hurricanes
-
@kiwiwomble I couldn't remember the exact phrase used, and the previous team releases weren't helpful.
-
@kiwiwomble I also recall something mentioning 'personal reasons' but that could include illness as well.
Just a shame, would have been a great chance for him to get back into things, particularly with the way the Highlanders try to play.
-
@taniwharugby yeah, he actually had me looking forward to this season....

They are probably too scared to play PUJ too much in case he breaks. Unfortunately, the UJ brothers seem to be made of glass.

F*ck, I hope that only means the SR season and not NPC! I wish they'd give more details. The article in Stuff doesn't say anything more, either.

So he's the lucky one of the four players who haven't had game time this year. Vince Aso, Danny Toala and Lolagi Visinia not getting a single minute in SRA.
-
@bovidae it feels like our wings and centres are on some sort of rotation no matter the opposition. Why can't coaches in NZ just pick a 1st XV and stick to it unless injuries strike or the form of a player dips. Again, the forward pack looks far too much on the light side so unfortunately, Ruben Love will continue to run the show on the back foot.
Surprised by the inclusion of Patafilo, he can be electric at times but I wouldn't pick him ahead of Aso or Toala.

Aren't you talking about his bro? PUJ isn't injured that much is he?

The last season or two have been quite good for him, but he has quite the history of injuries too I think. I like him, I hope the injuries are behind him.

Is Goosen injured?

Early on he was. But he was a fine for the Canes last year (when he finally got a start) but lasted just a few minutes when he came on early for the ABs. Head knock I think.
-
So that's 3 starts on the bounce at 12 for Gregory, IIRC he has started only twice at 12 for Northland, the position most who have seen him play over the years, see as looking most comfortable in.
-
@canes4life that’s the reason why the Hurricanes don’t hold onto players, they keep playing the same guys over and over again
-
@yeahtheboys it’s always the wrong players though. They need to get the balance of consistently keeping their best players on the park while occasionally bringing in new talent, giving them a taste of top flight footy. No team does it better than the Crusaders.
-
There is some absolutely bizarre selections going on in pretty much every team now eh. It used to be "oh well I'd prefer player X but player Y Is still good and is selected in position".
Now it's like BURN IT WITH FIRE
What the fuck is going on in NZ? I blame Robertson and Mauger last year for kicking off a trend, shuffling superior players into a position they're crap at to allow another player to play the original position (after having also been moved out of position).
