This is one bloodbath I won't be putting myself through.
Camping this weekend looking like a good option
So my wife has organised a family weekend away, I just found out there is no internet or mobile service......
I'm heading to Port Douglas with the wife sans kids. I probably won't watch either.
Doubt I'll miss much.
Pretty sure when I stayed there they had TV. Book the missus a spa and you won’t miss a thing

Personally I don't think the ABs have properly replaced TKB when he left in 2015. There was a reason TKB was the preferred backup in the 2015 RWC.
TKB was certainly much less inclined towards brainfarts than TJP, but damn he was useless on attack. Obviously served his purpose and did the job he needed to do, but I'd want that reserve 9 to take it up a notch. TJP certainly has enough talent but for whatever reason can't stop acting like a complete tool at the worst possible moments.
You'd think after all these years he'd have learnt to tone it down a bit, but clearly he's a fucking idiot who needs to be jettisoned.
You really hate him don't you? I'd like to think we can do better than him, but he's not that bad.
Indeed, it's also not New Zealand Rugbys God given right to have world class players AND reserves either.
Since when?

Akira Ioane has the physical potential to be absolute legendary All Black.
The fact he has suffered prior to getting in here will hopefully make him turn out to be a better AB in the long term than if had been promoted a few years back.
Let's hope so!!!! -

Akira has the skills and physique to be our next Kaino, and it appears that he's had an attidtude adjustment - I really hope it all clicks
What sort of shape is he in nowadays ?
With both Ioanes starting the potential for dickheadishness is huge
Is this him at 0.06 with Rieko?

Team I'd like to see, assuming Ardie and Nepo back and Joe given another week to be completely clear, and Cane rested as precaution:
Karl T/Taylor/Laulala/Whitelock/Barrett (S))/Savea/Frizell/Sotutu/TJP/Barrett(B)/Laumape/ALB/Clarke/Ioane(R)/Barrett(J)
Bench: Hodgman/Aumua/Ofa/Patty T/Papali'i/Weber/Mo'unga/JordanAlso giving a few who've played a bit a rest.
Not too far off. Is Nepo still on paternity leave?
Cane back and Ardie to 8 allows Akira finally to get a start.
Let it rip, mate!

I'm not asking for a world lass halfback in his own right. I'm just asking for someone who can pass the ball and not lose his head every time he steps onto the field.

Then down to the pub at the port for beers and prawns
chances of me not being at the Courthouse at some point on saturday are almost nil
Have they still got that huge fuck off Garoupa they feed down by the wharf? That thing was seriously impressive

In making a number of changes to the squad, Foster explained: “We’ve been really delighted with the whole squad, so we feel that there are some players who are really putting their hand up and deserve an opportunity.
“We’ve been really impressed with Akira. He’s keen, he’s ready and to have his first Test start is pretty special.
Well I hope he steps up to the plate but I think he has taken a psychological hit due to his previous omissions from the ABs and whatever else is rattling around in his head. I hate the fact that he is static when he receives the ball. I’d like to see him hitting the ball with pace. I hope he is not seen as just a solid defender and playing a role at the expense of his attacking attributes. He has to keep this mindset which of course would be helped if the ABs saw possession and control through the forwards as more important.

@pakman Not directed at you specifically but I’m seeing better performances from our other props than from Nepo.
The thing is that Lomax has yet to show that he is up to the mark as a starting TH. Nepo is good in scrums, and wasn't too bad around field last time out.
Can't have all our eggs on the Ofa basket.

@Kirwan said in Bledisloe Four: Brisbane, 7 November:
He might have some selection headaches after this.
Dunno. Maybe he has his 1st XV clear in his head and is seeing how his 2nd choices go in a starting XV.
Be interesting to see how Akira does - hopefully if it's a tight game we'll see how he goes in a proper test rather than a blow-out.

Generally with this many changes the team looks exciting on paper and then plays like shit, so I'm keeping my expectations low. One of the things Hansen successfully moved away from.
Hopefully that doesn't happen, and having the 8, 9, former 10, and 12 Hurricanes combinations should mitigate it somewhat. If it goes badly the bench won't be much help. There's only big Pat who you'd consider an experienced level head on there to calm things down.Having said that, it's a pretty weak and young Aussie side, with Rennie still seeming like he's running trials. If it turns into one of those defense-optional games, the score could get really big really quick, especially with that bench.

Not suggesting Fozzie's playing 4D chess, but could be a good opportunity to see who'll step up in an inexperienced 23?
Perhaps he's looking to reduce some of the headless-chicken rugby we saw under Hansen's later teams.

@reprobate this is about where I'm at. They'll try to hard and/or not Gel, a win is probably coming but unlikely to be pretty. Expo with bled pressure off.
Would like to be proved wrong
He mentioned this in the video above, as he was seeing that sort of individualism when the players were coming on from the bench. He wants them to play in the team pattern and not try to do too much as an individual, he described it as trust the players around you.
So part of the evaluation is seeing who listens to that (discussion was around Laumape)
