The Haka

Marler now retiring from International Rugby. I do hope that it’s not because of this issue.
I see now that there has been suggestions online that NZ could be fined for advancing within 10m of the England line during the Haka. I guess theme the rules but how ludicrous has it all become?
I don't know why anyone thinks WR has rules for haka outside of WC. They don't, never have, they don't control what happens before tests, other than WCs, where they control all rematch stuff including how teams come on field, how anthems are done, and advertising. Outside of WC it is up to home union, they can scrap hakas, sivis or anything they want. There is no rules about anyone from advancing etc and never has been. Did anyone see Scotland/Fiji pregame? Fijians were up to halfway in a semi circle, and rightfully f*** all said.

@Catogrande huh? Didn't England advance first?
yeah up to the halfway line and not within 10m of NZ, which I understood was the rules but as has been suggested, maybe that is only for RWC games? Dunno but all unclear and more importantly, unnecessary.

@Catogrande I've always thought it was not past your own ten, since Cockerill. England always ruining it for the rest of us.

I think it was Willie Anderson’s Ireland team that did the first statement response.
NZ always blaming the mother country for…. whatever 😀

Tut tut tut, that’s just those uneducated, boofhead league players (can’t even bring myself to use the sacred word rugby).
Look at them being so angry and aggressive, won’t do anything for entertainment or viewership.
We here at the hallowed ground of Twickenham will keep our distances so we won’t be too tired for our tackle bag routines right after.

Will be disappointing if the clear 3rd choice halfback is included for the sole purpose of Haka leading duties.
There's been plenty of non-Māori who have led it before (Tana, Mealamu). Ardie would have the requisite mana within the squad you would think. Ratima and Williams are young but would be excellent candidates too IMO.

and on the Haka, watched rugby documentary "By the Balls" this week and good insight by Buck on how he changed the Haka in 1987
The Haka was pretty serious for many teams pre-Buck. The '63-64 haka was led by Mac Herewini & Waka Nathan and practiced to get it right. Non-playing AB's performed it in the stands to challenge the singing during games in Wales.
Faded away in the mid-late '60's and some of the "haka" in the early '70's was fucking embarrassing to watch.

well
i remember a game a few seasons back, NZ Maori v British Isles (at Rotorua?)
i was thinking this should be a good game, and was really looking forward to it
at the start of the game the haka was rolled out
it was beautiful, probably the best haka i'd ever seen!
but, I was straight away concerned
being a XV game they probably only had a week together to prepare
and as right to be apprehensive, the Maori boys got smashed
clearly . . .
too much f’n haka practice, and NOT ENOUGH F’N RUGBY PRACTICE!
