Wayne Barnes given the whistle.
Whippee doo.
Barnes has morphed into a pretty good ref IMHO.
Way, way better than Garces & Poite. (not that's much of an endorsement)

Swansong for Gatland (and Wyn Jones I think?), bronze medal and a first ever victory over the AB's.
Well, I guess the 1953 Welsh win was fake news.

Not to mention 1903 and 1935.

Deans scored in 1905.
1935 was probbly fake news.

The 1953 Wales win was the subject of one of the best sports books I've ever read - Dragons & All Blacks.
Highly, highly recommended.

1905 d'oh.
1935 was one of the least successful All Black teams (lost two tests on tour) but captained by my Mum's uncle.

Jack Manchester?
They were adjusting to the 3-4-1 scrum from the 2-3-3 IIRC. Major change in play for the AB's
Didn't they lose to England as well?

Obolensky's match I think?

@Catogrande Ahh, so England are the instigators of poaching then. At least they have set a high level, a Prince no less. Still I'll settle for a Tokoroa Matai or a possible Nadi Ratu.

Perhaps RWC Mickey Mouse Final is an apt thread title name for this thread as well?
-
You would assume Read, Crotty, SBW, Bender will be in the side as it is their last test for the AB's? You would then think some of the players that have not featured may get some minutes, Moli, Ioane, Weber, Coltman, Frizell. Then a dash of the top 15 who have a point to prove.
Or maybe Shag wants to put out the strongest side to ensure the win. I guess we sill see soon enough.

@Nepia why would Cane be a risk?
Because he should have started last week.
-
@Nepia still dont get how that is a risk...
We still want/need to win this game, so I expect they will roll out largely what they intended the final should we make it...with a 50 year record over Wales on the line, I dont htink there is room for nostalgic endings for the likes of Crotty & BFA!

I hope (and expect) Hansen's first priority is to win. Marc Hinto picked this team to start - but, that tight five would worry me.
Beauden Barrett, Ben Smith, Ryan Crotty, Sonny Bill Williams, Rieko Ioane, Richie Mo'unga, TJ Perenara; Kieran Read (capt), Sam Cane, Shannon Frizell, Patrick Tuipulotu, Brodie Retallick, Angus Ta'avao, Dane Coles, Atu Moli.

Risk to Hansen's reputation ... not to the game.
