So we down grade our 12 because none of our 10s can run the game?
I have every sympathy with the vibe, but assuming we take four midfielders, I personally will feel a lot better if we take RC as our 'thinking' second five. We all know he doesn't have the physical attributes of an SBW or a Laumape, but there's room for one of them, so we have different clubs in the bag.
But then I still believe we blew it in Cardiff by not having Mauger in the 23!!!
And that's wrong about Mauger too when you look at how Luke played
In the first half. AM could have been on bench.

Two 12s in the 23? Thank fuck you're not a selector

Last post for now. I think ROG has really improved Mo'unga's tactical awareness. Couple of instances I can easily recall yesterday were breakout from 22, and little chip over top in own half with back up leading to try.
We have two excellent first fives to take to RWC. Great options for starting/bench.
O'Gara has definitely improved the Crusaders and Mo'unga especially
Watched an interview with him & Razor on 1014 and alot was made of ROG Int'l experience over 120 caps for Ireland
ALOT of Intellectual Property acquired in his playing career as well as time spent coaching in coach and with Dan Carter at Racing
ROG will be missed when leaves Backline has been a smoothly run machine Lots of players have come and played well off the bat
Mataele Reece Ennor Jordan Bridge Hall etc -

Fuck SBW and Laumape, ABW is the best 12 in NZ
He's a lock for RWC, and, yes, probably best all round 12. That said, Hags crunched him effectively. Not bad at 13 either!

One more.
Interested in views, but when Read chose to take the 3 with 10 to go, I thought it could well bite them in the bum and nearly did. I'd have kicked to corner and given Caders maul a rumble. Even if no try territorially good and burning up three or four minutes.
Coach I was with yesterday disagreed and pointed out that with RM it was almost guarnteed 3, and plenty of time to go.
In the books now.
The canes forwards were on top and had consistently been effective defending in the red zone. All the crusaders tries came from long range, generally because of canes errors. If the canes defence hadn't been so effective (for example if the crusaders had had three red zone attacks for three tries) then I could understand going to the corner (which had happened earlier in the game) but at that point taking the points was the right call.

ALB was sent into the witness protection program in Buenos Aires
Jaguares made him disappear last weekHe had 11 runs for 16 metres!!!
Beyond winning a turnover in his own 22 ALB was nowhere to be seen
Still ALB Crotty & Goodhue are locks to be in RWC squad
Laumape will be Crotty of 2015 RWC
Odd man out but he'll likely be 1st choice #12 from 2020 onwards

I think we can ALL agree on that!
But Mauger on bench for Evans would have left 10 covered by Luke/AM and Mils able to move to 15 if Panadol off.

Were you even watching rugby in 2007? Not only was Evans nearly the form 10 of the side, he was good as anyone in the comp. He was a lock for the side.
Selection didn't really lose us that game.

At Cardiff, I was in my 40th year of WATCHING.
We can both agree that selection wasnt't the ONLY thing which lost us that game.
Evans was in sterling form. His injury just after he came on was a big factor.
And we were only one score away from the French completely imploding at the end of the first. In fact, I even made the mistake of feeling sorry for them.
But quite aside from Mils at 13, to end up with Byron and Luke running things at crunch time was just asking for trouble. Ice wasn't going to add nous at that point.
I agonised a lot over the loss, and was fing ropable when I got back, watched video and saw missed forward pass by JK.
Then analysed to death on way back to London.
I'm afraid I still believe that if AM had been on field in last 15 we'd have won that match.

@pakman which doesn't answer who you drop or how it changes things. Hindsight is beautiful.
Realise you're baiting, but I'll bite.
You're forcing me to think back. I think, contary to earlier in the thread, I alighted on AM instead of Ice in 23. Thought was that Luke (yellow card was a turning point) could cover 13, and if outside back injured Mils to move out.
As it turned out the net result, all things being equal, that when Luke moved to 10, AM would have been 12. Cue droppie.
Hart seemed too swayed by athleticism, and AM passed over.
The relevant point to this thread is that you always want in your 23 one midfielder with nous, and for this world cup RC or ALB need to be there in all the big games.

Hart? I assume you mean athleticism for the bench from Henry?
So basically what you're saying is that Mauger was the only player who would have overruled the other senior ABs and changed the plan to go for a droppy?

If youre a canes fan, warriors fan and black caps fan this weekend sucked. Spoiler alert: my weekend sucked.
Don't forget us Chiefs fans - we weren't even playing, also, I sat down to watch the Canes v Crusaders match on Friday and the game wasn't on, then I missed the start of the movie I was going to today because I was in the foyer watching those retard Warriors lose in extra time.
Spoiler alert: my weekend sucked too. -

Sorry, still haven't got over Cully at 13!
Overruled no, but word in shell like of Ritchie, yes.
But I'd of course wanted him on a bit before that ideally.
Water under the bridge now.

Congratulations on the dumbest argument on the sports forum in some time.
The distinction is very important

@mariner4life I agree but they keeping going back to Crotty and SBW. I would like to see him given the 12 for the rugby championship.
