@Rancid-Schnitzel well we beg to differ don’t we
And wether you believe me or not does not worry me as I know what I do it’s a great job being paid for something you love doing I wouldn’t trade it for anything I have meet some Awesome people even youRegardless of whether you are Super Coach on 7 figures, being serviced by topless bar wenches while caddying for Tiger Woods and taking calls from Rafael Nadal to fix his serve, saying that a sideline conversion is easy is just plain fucking dumb.
That said one of my very best mates missed one from the sideline to send our GF in to extra time. I constantly remind him how he really should have kicked that. Piss easy...
Well obviously. That's why you see young kids kicking them all the time.

@Chris said in Semi Final 1: Crusaders vs Hurricanes:
@Rancid-Schnitzel no just the other dribble
Dribble. Reminds me of soccer. How easy are those free kicks? Clearing the wall and curling it in at the corner. But you'd know that because you have Ronaldo on speed dial.
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel ohhh is that sarcasm very good didn’t think you were up to that level

@taniwharugby He has regressed to Luke Whitelock type. Looks like a season too far.
Reado not player of a few years ago. But the recognised leader, solid all round and top lineout option. Still very glad to have him!

man am loving TJP at the moment though, schooling other 9s, and refs (mostly, except that kick from teh 22)
Am finding it a little difficult to get used to the hair!

Great game. Few thought from a AB perspective
George Bridge may have booked a ticket to Japan
He looks to me to be Benda's natural heir.

Re: Crotty
His defensive importance lies with the combination, allowing Goodhue to defend where he is most effective. As long as Goodhue defends at 13 the midfield is solid. Ennor is not (yet) a good 13 on defence.
Any AB combo of Crotty/Goodhue, ALB/Goodhue or SBW/Goodhue would be fine IMO. Next best options for 13 are ALB and Crotty although ALB offers more on attack in that jersey.
It’s a given that Goodhue goes to Japan. As for the rest of the midfield options it will be a tight call.Spot on @Crucial! Saders backs lost their shape when RC went off (46th minute?).
Was at cricket yesterday and spoke to a well known Kiwi international coach who agreed that RC really upgrades the AB decision making in backs. Apparently, Fitzy also noted the game changed when he went off.
Goodhue did not seem effective at 12. RC also seems to upgrade BB option taking.
For me RC a lock for the 'second five' slot at RWC. SBW/Laumepe vying for physical 'inside centre' role. Goodhue a natural at 13. ALB provide bench and gebuine utility value.
Not sure I'd want to see BB/SBW/JG in a tight, must win game against good rush defence.

BB/SBW/JG
and yet, I reckon this is what the selectors have been working towards, or at least wanting to run out, but aint gonna happen until round 2 of TRC if it does.
ALB/JG is the mid-field most have been keen on seeing, I reckon

@Chris said in Semi Final 1: Crusaders vs Hurricanes:
@African-Monkey yeah you are right from his best side
Mounga nailed 2 from the sideline from his harder side
Add JB missed a penalty, 5 points would have won the game or Mounga missed 2 different resultJust what another coach said yesterday. BB's volatile boot is a big risk going into RWC.
-
So we down grade our 12 because none of our 10s can run the game?
-

What an emotional roller coaster at the ground, didn’t really enjoy the game that much and thought the canes would pinch it at the end.
for some reason in that second half we hung off Beauden and Coles and let them run at us.Crotty departure coincided with that?

@Chris said in Semi Final 1: Crusaders vs Hurricanes:
@Rancid-Schnitzel yes from the left hand side
For a right foot kicker it is a lot easier
Moungas where harder I kicked many so I know it’s harder through experience it’s easier in the wind as well to fade from the left side than the rightIf you look at stats for conversions the percentage successful is a lot lower for kicks taken within five metres of right touchline than it is for those taken with five metres of left.

Wow, do people who aren't professional Rugby coaches actually do this ?
What amazing time management skills.

I have every sympathy with the vibe, but assuming we take four midfielders, I personally will feel a lot better if we take RC as our 'thinking' second five. We all know he doesn't have the physical attributes of an SBW or a Laumape, but there's room for one of them, so we have different clubs in the bag.
But then I still believe we blew it in Cardiff by not having Mauger in the 23!!!

I'm just another one-eyed Fern hack, so don't stare at ME with your eye!
It seems there have been here 100 posts which boil down to easy vs. easier???!!!
-
@canefan yeah I should have explained it abit better slip of the finger the 2 kicks I admitted that
But my point being BB kick was easier from the left side than RM’s 2 from the right but some people couldn’t get their head around it or just don’t understand goal kicking -
@Chris said in Semi Final 1: Crusaders vs Hurricanes:
@pakman yep it’s a much harder kick the angle the fade is a lot harder as the natural run into the ball makes it harder to line up your left shoulder to your target zone for all Right foot kickers kicking from the right hand touchline
I can't find the clip of Mexted, commentating on a test, I think in Wellington, when Merts had a conversion from the right hand touch in a gale: 'He's a magician if he kicks this one'. [Ball curls out to ten metres in front of posts, stops, caught by a gust and goes over] He IS a magician!'.
This will have to suffice:

To start I like RM/SBW/JG (or ALB) OR BB/RC/JG. But also very relaxed with 10/ALB/JG.
