@no-quarter That Naholo chap seems pretty good. NMS is fit again as well?
NMS a shadow of his former self. Naholo all four seasons in one game, every game. But Naholo is probably the best option right now.

The loss we had to have. 😎
Although if only we went with
Moody, Taylor, Franks, Whitelock, Barrett, Taufua, Todd, Read, FABBH, Mo’unga, FABGB, Crotty, Goodhue, Tamanivalu, Havili

Why are people saying "if we'd started Mo'unga"? Did they not watch his first test start?
Yeah.. He kicked 7/8
Do you think we would've scored six tries tonight based on his general play against Argentina?
I'm not calling for him to replace Beauden in the starting lineup..
I'm just suggesting that Beauden gives up the goalkicking duties..
At least have Mounga on the bench to kick goals/droppiesWe don't have the luxury of taking a NFL style specialist onto the bench. Dare I say it, Read needs to step up and say "you're kicking wounded ducks, time for someone else to have a go". Also; "we're building for a drop kick, take the fucking thing".
You make it sound like Mounga is a trash first five. He was the best first five in Super Rugby.

Gotta say we missed Retallick big time.
He was there as world's biggest water boy?!
I thought we wouldn't miss him in Wellington but definitely in Pretoria. Got that one horribly wrong.

Meh.... they will learn a lesson there. We were way below par. I am not remotely concerned.
Not actually that impressed with SA.Agreed, they didn’t so much win it, we lost it.
Sure they took their chances and defended well but we gifted them 14 points and left another 8 out there through rediculously poor goal kicking.Apart from the fact we bloody lost, I’m not too worried, we won’t be that poor again.
ridiculously
Thanks. I was losing sleep over spelling radiculosly wrong.
Ah crap I did it again.

So I guess the Old Foe is back?
Great test match although we still seem to have a thing for not kicking dropgoals. Also, and I'm not the biggest rugby union watcher on this site, but Jordie Barrett surely can't be the best fullback in NZ. That lineout pass....
Ben Smith is the best fullback. But we're so utterly devoid of options on the right wing Jordie has been getting the starts with Ben moving out. We really need to uncover a world class right wing before the RWC.
Wouldn’t say we’re devoid of right wing options, assuming BFA stays at FB, we have Naholo who’s going alright. Then they just need to pick the right ones after him, first on the list is Alaimalo. Bridge probably next.

Just saw Steve Tew coming out of the TAB with very large both smile and briefcase.
He was saying something about having Beaudy locked in for another four years.
Gotta pay for Ioane’s new contract somehow....

I think Patty T may have played his last test in an AB jersey. He tends to lose the ball in contact too much. And as much as Ofa has improved, who else was nervous every time a scrum packed down in the 2nd half?
Not me, Ofa was huge out there. Franks is a big concern IMO, and was deservedly yanked after 45mins.
Patrick also had a good game, some big runs and good tight work. Dropped one ball.
I disagree.
I'm an Ofa T fan but a Pat T doubter.
But 2 attacking 5m scrums we got put under pressure and fluffed our moves. The kosh was on Ofa's side. He was up against a good scrummaging sub in Beast, though. Pat T not on the field at that time.
When Laulala is fit again, he will be on the bench. He is the best THP in NZ as far as scrummaging is concerned.
Can't agree. He is the heir apparent, but Owen did a good job on Kitshoff, whereas Nepo tends to be rock solid but less able to dominate.

Some utterly brainless shit cost us big time tonight.
BB's rubbish goal kicking was the losing of the game. Just not good enough. Problem is that it has been so obvious for so long but we keep getting told there is no issue. Criminal that there were two better kickers in the team going unused too.
The lack of droppie attempt at the end was a big concern too. That is the sort of bone headed play that results in embarrassing early exits from RWC's.
Im more pissed off about the nature of the loss than actually losing the game. This AB team looks great when things come off and we can run up big scores quickly but this game and the Lions series have exposed them a bit when they are under pressure late in a game. We are probably 2:2 in close finishes in the last two seasons.

From 2008-2015 we had quite a few close losses with some ‘brain dead’ play, but yet won two world cups. Go figure aye.

What I enjoyed (perversely) was that after second try Boks got their gander up and really put it to us. Shows that they have been well down on confidence.
Great for rugby to see Boks performing.
I can honestly say I'm glad that wasn't a 60-0 win, as WAATP Smith fretted about mid first half! -

Dunno...was a lot of ordinary and poor from a good number of players, BBBR is damn good the way we played I don't think we'd have won.
Too much rust out there, dumb decisions and pushing the play (almost sounds like after a northland game)

And we saw some pretty important goal/drop kicks go over to win us those world cups. Go figure.

@taniwharugby I do wonder if, with Barrett in place of Retallick, Squire has to play tighter. He wasn't very visible tonight.
