I think Patty T may have played his last test in an AB jersey. He tends to lose the ball in contact too much. And as much as Ofa has improved, who else was nervous every time a scrum packed down in the 2nd half?
Not me, Ofa was huge out there. Franks is a big concern IMO, and was deservedly yanked after 45mins.
Patrick also had a good game, some big runs and good tight work. Dropped one ball.
Patrick made two handling errors. He lost another one after he went to ground.
Ofa was fucking good though.
No, the ref called Whitelock for the second one, which was still wrong because he didn’t touch it.
Whitelock didnt touch it because Patrick lost control pf it.
The ref called a knock on against 4
Ok? The replay clearly showed Tuipulotu losing control of the ball.
It showed it rolling on his stomach. Didn’t hit the ground or another player, where was the knock on?
Your first sentence is the point. His handling continues to be a real problem.

I disagree.
I'm an Ofa T fan but a Pat T doubter.
But 2 attacking 5m scrums we got put under pressure and fluffed our moves. The kosh was on Ofa's side. He was up against a good scrummaging sub in Beast, though. Pat T not on the field at that time.
When Laulala is fit again, he will be on the bench. He is the best THP in NZ as far as scrummaging is concerned.

@kirwan Haven't been impressed with Franks this year. He's been just adequate at scrum time and his usual self around the field. Has missed a lot of tackles too.
But he's in everyone's World XV isn't he?
-
Anyway, gotta give credit to the Boks. They capitalised on the chances we gave them exactly the same way we capitalise on chances other sides give us. When we do it we wax lyrical about how amazing player X,Y and Z are, when the other side do it to us we overlook that and focus in on the player that made the mistake.
All fans do that for obvious reasons, but it's worth keeping in mind - we made more errors than we usually do but the Boks were focused enough to make us pay big time, where other teams wouldn't. Colossal win for them away from home.
That's the most excitement I've had from rugby since the Lions test. Fucking awesome.

@mikethesnow you're usually fairly onto it, but Smith was getting dominated physically by a midget. Consistently. Was stoked when Perenara came on, only to watch him spray it like Charlie Baileygates.

Why are people saying "if we'd started Mo'unga"? Did they not watch his first test start?
Yeah.. He kicked 7/8
Do you think we would've scored six tries tonight based on his general play against Argentina?
I'm not calling for him to replace Beauden in the starting lineup..
I'm just suggesting that Beauden gives up the goalkicking duties..
At least have Mounga on the bench to kick goals/droppiesWe don't have the luxury of taking a NFL style specialist onto the bench. Dare I say it, Read needs to step up and say "you're kicking wounded ducks, time for someone else to have a go". Also; "we're building for a drop kick, take the fucking thing".

Yes, I agree.
I'm happy with Ofa. But Laulala last year was immense. -

Not mine mate. I still think he's a great player who is not at top form atm but would have Furlong over him even when he is.

Unless it's a different one, I saw it roll off a stomach then leg of another player, but fucked if I could see any knock on.

The midget was impressive and offside quite a bit, but for those opportunities so close to the line Smith is so much faster of mind and body than TJP.
-
@antipodean Also: everyone take a deep breath and calm the fuck down. Look at the way you are chucking the ball at each other rather than passing.

That's pressure related mind

So I guess the Old Foe is back?
Great test match although we still seem to have a thing for not kicking dropgoals. Also, and I'm not the biggest rugby union watcher on this site, but Jordie Barrett surely can't be the best fullback in NZ. That lineout pass....

Second half better than the first.
Fantastic effort from both sides 👏
Best match I've seen in ages.
Crotty should have had more rest. ALB and Goodhue is a better in form combo.
Massive gulf when A Smith goes off. Smith would have scored two if not all of TJP's three snipes at the line.
S Barrett must have inherited GOAT's Cloak of Invisibility. Diving and off his feet at almost every breakdown and not once was he penalised.
Great effort from Savea to score his try but there was no way that Owens should have gone back for no advantage.
BB should have been stepped down from kicking. Bad captaincy, bad coaching.
And not taking penalty kicks at goal and the drop kick at the death was as significant as BB's wayward boot.
This is how legends are born ...
... how did it get to 22-17 at the break?
-
@mikethesnow Yeah - exactly the time the captain needs to step up and take charge.

Ben Smith is the best fullback. But we're so utterly devoid of options on the right wing Jordie has been getting the starts with Ben moving out. We really need to uncover a world class right wing before the RWC.

@no-quarter That Naholo chap seems pretty good. NMS is fit again as well?
