D Mac is getting a lot of hate on here but the Chiefs were losing last night.
In no small part due to him.
Barrett was also disappointing which no one on here seems to be mentioning. The cross field kick at 22-13 was a poor option for instance.
The option they scored off?
The very implication that DMac was good, but let down by his team whereas Beaudy was poor is taking the piss.

No, the crossfield kick for Laumape was a good option because we were under advantage. I am talking about the one he did at 22-13 for Aso I think it was? Alaimalo got the ball and countered. It was a poor option. At that point we needed to keep the ball and not give the Chiefs a chance to get back into it. The Chiefs tactical kicking was far superior in the last 25 minutes. A lot of that was due to Ngatai being awesome.
Barrett had a terrific game but a lot of people have been talking about controlling a game and how poor McKenzie (and Perofeta) have been at that. Barrett is not a lot better than D Mac at that. What he is good at is making sure the backline runs efficiently and that was the big different from last week with West playing.
-
Barrett controlled the canes much better and against a much better side than West did last week. The canes couldn't even get out of their half. So I disagree, BB is one of the form tens in the world ATM, and his game is perfect for the way both the canes and ABs play. Listen to the neutrals - they agree.
-
Remember too, that Beaudy got a lot of durespuct on here for his inability to control games. He still isn't probably a natural 10, and struggled at times. 10 is hard, people take time to grow into the role. He also used to be an absolute turnstile on defence - to the point some people were in teh 'never play for the ABs again mode'. Just like Nonu.
Anyway, the upsides of both Beaudy and DMac are apparent. Different players, different strengths, but great upside for both.

@kiwiinmelb I'd tend to disagree quite strongly there - Laumape is not even close to the player Nonu is - he's brutal, but the things that put Nonu above his peers (superb vision, deft passing, brilliant decisions), don't really feature in his arsenal. I can see him developing these assets though from the huge improvement he's shown in the last 2 years.
Laumape is class this year. My view he is playing consistently better rugby at super rugby level than Nonu did.
One issue now. Proctor with his new hair cut and Laumape look too much alike now. The commentators were as confused as me. Or maybe they caused the confusion

Barrett's strength now is the way he reads and controls a game. His play is a big part as to why the Canes play a more structured, sensible game now. I noticed the flaky, what the f++k are they doing, rugby creep back with West at first last week.

We are so blessed that our lord and saviour, The Pimply Giraffe, is here to negate the player drain. How good is it having a guy who is a realistic test option in any position in the backline, whether he has played there or not.
We need a stronger word than overrated.
Pimply Giraffe......
This is some of your best work.
Amazing that a bloke who was nothing more than an honest trier can have such messiah like son's.

This thread is comic gold. Basically, according to some, it appears that DMac is so shit he wouldn’t get a start for NIcks injury depleted 5th grade back blocks of Sydney side.
Conversely the Pimply Giraffe is so good in so many positions that he could probably cover our current prop crisis.
As an aside, about to board a plane to Oz with the Brumbies. Pocock is one guy who seems way smaller in real life than he does on the field.
Also saw Lisa Carrington earlier - way, way hotter in real life.

Don't be ridiculous, he is too tall for prop.

If anyone could overcome that handicap Jesus of Hawera can. (Not sure if he’s Hawera, the Nakis all the same to me).

@taniwharugby Like I said, smaller than what you’d think - even the guns.
Yep on Carrington, just never seen real life. She also had an extremely hot sporty looking mate as well.

Was disappointed with the Chiefs efforts. Ngatai was cake. Harris a hungus, DMac a crab and BBBR chose this match to have a poor game in a Chiefs jersey by his lofty standards. I'm hoping they can regroup - and find a decent prop replacement.

@nepia hope you took a pic of his guns for @MN5
LIsa Carrington is hot, fullstop, amazing athlete.
Pocock seems like an absolute cockwomble.
Hopefully him and Folau have to room together when the Wallabies go on tour.

Probably her boyfriend.

@mn5 not sure the ARU has either the stones or sense of humour to do that!
