@nzzp spot on with Hooper. He's kind of a sacred cow in Australia - never seems to be critised. He is busy without actually doing all that much that is effective as a test 7. Cane is much less flashy but so much more effective. And yes Hooper's captaincy is bad.
I've been re-watching a whole bunch of old AB games while suffering on the rowing machine. There was one recently where the ref pulled him aside and said 'you're the captain, act like it'.
The Aussie setup seems to tolerate indiscipline and has for years. Beale, Cooper, O'Connor under Deans were sacred cows. I reckon teams need to believe in themselves and be honest about their shortcomings to really improve. not sure I see this with Hooper and Cheika at the helm.
I was in the Spiro camp of looking at Coleman for captain... but on the back of last night's game, I'm not sure that's going to end well either. Link to his article from a few months ago: http://www.theroar.com.au/2017/07/31/michael-cheikas-new-wallabies-need-new-captain-adam-coleman/

He is outside of NSW.

Didn't see a more appropriate thread so this will do.
Two thoughts:
-
Pure speculation: Smith may or may not be benefitting from a more stable relationship and may therefore not have been so bothered by these "new" revelations having effect on his relationship as it potentially all came out and got thrashed out between them a year ago. This may be complete bollocks. But his play did not seem affected.
-
Jerome... I will try and not make any judgement on what he may have done. Plenty of relationships are affected by infidelity by one party or the other. But what gives anyone, not least an unscrupulous faceless corporation and the maggots that work for them, the right to fuck up a family? One could argue that Jerome has managed that himself but this is a matter for the parties involved: Jerome, the model, Mrs Kaino, and their two boys. Jerome appears to have made a choice that will potentially wreck his marriage. Given time one or other party in that relationship may have come to their senses and it would have worked it's natural course. But to make money and score cheap "PR" points in such a cynical fashion without regard to the innocent parties I find reprehensible.

If you're like me, you're reading less and less modern media. Their entire model seems to be this, preferably sourced from Twitter or Facebook so you don't even have to leave the warm cozy confines of a skeleton staffed office.

I thought the pass to Squire for 1st try looked forward? First thought was oh shit, thisโll be called back
On first viewing I thought so too.
But if you watch where Ioane ends up relative to the ball he stays in front of it.

@Rocky-Rockbottom yeah I thought the pass was forward on first viewing too
Every man and his dog thought it was forward, but lucky for us, Wayne Barnes was the ref.
I was surprised when he called a forward pass back, must've been spotted by Owens. -

Finally got round to watching the second half of the match. I'm now further confused as to why DMAc has become the pinata for his match ... haters gonna hate?
Seriously, the Folau try! WTF. Barnes ignores the pass from the get go, tells the TMO it's good (it's probably a 50/50) then makes a convoluted excuse to not confirm the obvious that Kurindrani touched the ball behind Folau. TBF to Barnes, most of his game was good. But that was the odd brainfart he seems to have the reputation for.
Charlie F is missed - even Crockett loses some impact when he doesn't run on with him.
Ioane got better on the second watch, his attack was obviously good but his defence was impressive, he covered well and made tackles.

Yeah Dmac made a few mistakes but was also good on attack. Definitely justified getting further gametime during the rc.
B Smith's sabbatical will be a perfect time to give the boy more game time. He'll only improve with it
-
I think dmac at this point in his career , is a selection I'm ok with against Australia , because of the open style of game we are likely to get, and how it should suit him .
Not so sure I would be as keen in a match vs England or Ireland

@Chris-B. said in Bledisloe I:
Yep - if Ofa is our second-best tighthead prop then we are going to be in shitter's ditch if Owen Franks can't play. In the meantime, I'd have Laulala on the bench and not worry that he's a bit limited around the track.
If they are going to manage Franks' Achilles injury then surely Laulala will start some of the RC tests. They wouldn't risk Ofa at TH vs SA or Argentina.

ABs lots to little
Could have been a lot lotser and a little littler, but by christ that was a thrashing.
Don't expect anyone to get close to the ABs this Championship regardless of who plays and where they play in black.
Huge gulf.
-
One thing I didn't realise is that channel 10 in Australia still use that pathetic knobgobbler Gordon Bray.
"Campo would have been proud of that."
I swear that fucker would chop off all his limbs just to smell Campese's shit. piston wristed gibbon.
I'll never complain about the Fox Sports lot ever again.

Yes - for all the shrieking and queen-like dramatics on here, NZ fans don't seem to know how lucky they are.

Nah, I sort of get it. It's about the what should have been given what went on before. I felt a little odd after England had beaten Oz 3-0 down there last year on account of how we let them back into the last game during the final minutes. We beat them but it really should have been more. Fair play to Oz mind for playing to the end. 3-0 and I felt a bit hollow. Strange.
-
@booboo My knee jerk reaction questioning your forwardness after your coffee shop sheila relationship musings.
Deep down I'm sure you're like all proper rugby men and couldn't give 2 fucks what ABs do or plow outside of 80 minutes...
where they play near perfect rugby for nearly an hour...
And still you naff on like Dr Phil or some suchJust trying (and failing) at giving you a bit of old school ribbing on the bus heading home after a great win.
trying to be light hearted is all Boo (and shocked at your SNAG posting

A lot of my posts over the weekend were alcohol fuelled, as an Irishman I'm sure you can relate.

Aus put up 28-0 in 25 mins.
I know it was over at that point but surely that stat is a concern. The fact we have been outscored in the last 3 games in the 2nd half must give the coaches cause for concern.
Its just hard to understand how you can score such beautiful tries and dominate 54-6 then just fall apart completely. At work today I'm getting "did you see the Wallabies scored 34 points vs the All Blacks."
