Thing is you have a split second to prepare for a fall, and you can learn how to fall properly (usually to fall as safely as possible) so in theory you could make that split second decision to milk a penalty or card, but you'd think the self preservation instinct would be the over riding one that your mind goes to first.

Julian Savea might be finding his mojo. He may be playing well.

But players don't suddenly "find" their old pace, like it slipped down the back of the sofa and he didn't look hard enough.

If he is to "find" some pace it will be in the off-season.

And I have a lovely bridge that you might like to buy, if you fall for that. Only one owner, a lovely Nigerian Prince.

Losing the weight might be a start, he’s looking trim. I agree with you, have an old memory of Savea or was it the Rok being sent to sevens to sharpen up and came back quicker.

@shadowtrooper when Caucau tried to make a come back a few years ago he did the same thing, oddly, the ball did go backwards out of his hand as he handed it 'back' to a guy almost an arms length in front of him, but the TMO called it back as a forward pass.

@dice ha funnily that is actually not that bad, not being bale to clear our line has been an issue for years now for us, so we have gone from erratic 10's with no distance to an erratic 10 who can kick for miles...definite improvement 🙂

@nepia yeah that one...the hype was he was going to be an AB 10 under the tutelage of Simon Culhane coaching at Southland...yeah that didn't happen.

@bovidae yeah same as most places, bit daft really, I know the Whangarei Airport is often 6 or 7 degrees lower than in town.

Tuesday last week the 'official' temp was 26, but I was at a Funeral at Toll Stadium and the temp there was 35, my car told me it was 37 (which is usually about 2-3 deg higher than actual)

I expect the idiots that designed our flash bridge used that sort of data and the variance was only to about 25deg and then first summer it was complete, it wouldnt work as the metal expanded too much at 25deg.

That was a dead cert penalty try. The only questions would be if Beaver didn't catch the pass or fumbled the grounding. Any thought that he would have been tackled short is ridiculous.
The offending player gets removed from the situation. You can't imagine that he didn't offend but did something else instead.

@Damo and Naholo didnt injure himself!!

Are you sure? He might have injured himself getting on the bus, or into the ice bath afterwards. I'm skeptical that he could have got through totally unscathed.

Blues fans (and Nepia) really get bitter over TJ don't they?

Hoi, I wasn't even involved in this one! I can't help it if Johnson is such a fan boy - damn, I think even Chris B thinks he's slightly over the top for all things red n black and Mako.

No more than others get bitter over Smithy and the Magpies (and various Canes players).

After half a century of listening to Auckland and Wellington commentators patronise second division Nelson Bays I have absolutely zero sympathy for the poor Auks who think TJ is pissing in their lattes. 🙂

Bulls probably win this if Pollard and Kriel weren't forced to rest, but they probably backed themselves to win without them.

Did I see a Sunwolves' fan cry at the end of the game?

Canes looked like they were going to score over 100 points with 15 minutes left. But SWs were poor up until the last 15 minutes. For the Canes Jodie looks class, Aso looked good enough on the wing, unsure still about Laumape at 2nd (maybe a better replacement option)., Black was fine at first, saw little of Blackwell but a lot of Fatialofa and Ricky Riccitelli looks fine at this level

I am scratching my head at the decision by the Sunwolves to turn down the possible 3 points when they're up 17 - 10 with 3 minutes left on the clock. Pisi is kicking 83% this season too, which makes the decision even more baffling. Not the first time the Sunwolves have made a dumb decision in crunch time this year.

Probably a Hammett masterpiece. If you are only slightly ahead, then there is an argument is that you can keep the ball for three minutes with modern rules, so you have upside of a try and if you don't cock up you own the game and run the clock.

If you kick the pen, then the oppo get the ball back and/or field position. So your control of the game is less.

However, if you are 7 up and kick the goal, then it is game over. So, yeah. Stupidity all round.
