Weakest All Blacks starting XV for a major Test that I can remember for a long time, fortunately the bench is better.

The continued lack of ball carriers is baffling, as is TJP at 9 when there are better younger options.

Disappointed that Proctor and Clarke miss out.

I think it will be another close and nervy one. ABs by 1-3.

Mark Telea is the back three selector Leon McDonald's undroppable pet, what did you expect, the same happened at the Blues when AJ Lam was in better form than Telea but never got a look in until Telea got injured.

MT has played well for the ABs in the past so not that much of an outlier as to why he is picked.

I think he’s down on form and there were a couple of concerning mis-reads but hardly just a Blues legacy thing going on here.

I’m guessing we will see a Clarke / Jordan combo return soon.

but he didn't even compete for the ball in the air! Looked most strange to me, I really think he is injured.

Blackadder at 6, what a joke.

This article heading didn't age well

    Sport, Rugby

The next Jerome Kaino? How ABs rookie made the No 6 jersey his own

The next Jerome Kaino? How ABs rookie made the No 6 jersey his own

The All Blacks rookie has come closer than any player to assuming Jerome Kaino's mantle.

"Rugby: The All Blacks' number 6 jersey is Akira Ioane's for as long as he wants it"

Not winning 3 of his first 5 tests in charge, that’s where 😉

Are any of you guys Ken who texts into SeNz. I’m picking Kirwan or Winger. He certainly has blues bias and no idea.

quibbling over selections aside, we should expect a decent performance this weekend, and an idea about what the 2024 ABs look like.

6-7 weeks in camp together. 4th game. A host of seasoned players available. No real excuses not to show us something.

Kirwan is diehard Blues but doubt he would waste his time on talkback when he can waste his time here.

Winger is just anti anything to do with Crusaders, Canterbury and all that is good in the world.

Iguess the biggest, unavoidable to the coaches, issue is lock. Two of last years top 3 goneburgers, the other one injured, and next experienced cab of the rank also injured. You gotta hope the noobs take the opportunity like the nines did.

Like restarts, exits and defeating a rush defence...

Looking forward to seeing how Darry goes, promising debut. Not looking forward to seeing Blackadder covering lock when Lord gets injured sitting on the bench.

Hoping Beauds continues his upward curve and Jordan doesn't get exposed even worse at fullback than he did on the wing.

Interested to see how this midfield works.

And fingers crossed Telea and Perenara get back to early season form.

Wow, with the responses on here you'd think we were still in the Foster era...

Fact is that these two Tests against Argentina are the easiest of the Rugby Championships and the selectors will use them to finesse their first-choice team for the rest of the year.

Tight five picks itself, given injuries to Barrett and Tuipulotu, and Aumua'a comparative advantage off the bench compared to Taylor.

Papali'i and (a slightly out of form) Savea are largely locked in at 7 and 8 - though I think Cane is still the better 7 than Papali'i but is heading off next year. Still wouldn't be hugely surprised to see him get minutes against Argentina and SA. At 6, it's a straight choice between Blackadder and Finau, given Jacobson's injury. Blackadder gets a run there this week but I assume Finau will get a crack next week and then whoever's the better performer of the two will likely start in SA.

Perenara is a baffling selection but it was always likely to be a combo of him and Ratima. Would still prefer Ratima to start.

ALB has been in great form over the last 12 months and he's been well and truly deserving of a run outside Jordie Barrett for a long time now. He and Proctor play a very similar game and are in similar form but with the team slightly down on experience, I'm pleased to see ALB in the side.

Tele'a hasn't had the best start to the year but and as some have alluded to this week, this could be his last chance to prove he should be starting on (either) wing, with Clarke probably the best choice at 11. I expect Clarke to get that jersey from next week, with Tele'a, Reece and Jordan largely fighting it out for the right wing spot.

The selectors haven't made any indication that this is the top (available) XV. We'll see that team line up against SA. For now, I'm pretty happy with the one selected - especially without knowing who they'll run out next weekend.

Jeysus some of the doom and gloom on here is doing my head in. 3/3

The coaches have recognised the issues at 6/13 and are working on it. They are saying 6 needs a higher work rate and 13 needs to distribute.

A lot to be happy about:
Vaai and Darry have shown some real steel. Building depth there.
Forward bench is strong. Aumua and Sititi are real weapons.
Back bench is strong Ratima- Ioane - Jordan are gamebreakers.

When the SA game comes along I see Ratima starting, Proctor or Alb at 13.
I like Reiko but more suited to winger in my mind.
I'd pick fast wingers so that means Reiko, Clarke or Jordan.
When Sititi comes on I hope he goes to 8 and Savea to 6.
Big moment for Blackadder even career defining has to stay fit.

You don't see much criticism of DMac on here now. Has cut out the high risk plays and is a fantastic player.

Looking good across the ditch. Schmidt working his magic. Sold out game v SA.
Interest piquing for the Bledisloe. Has to be a good thing

The Blackadder selection becomes a bit more baffling when you try to figure out what he offers over Cane.

Not much, other than he’s a Crusader.
