I'm actually reasonably happy after those 2 games. The side is going through a pretty massive transition phase and I think they're on the right track in terms of how they want to play and how effective that will be if executed correctly. The biggest concern by far is the lineout because the players farking that up should have enough experience. Hopefully they get that right.
In terms of the backs, the only thing that can be considered "settled" is a centre combo who have been together for 5 minutes. Raw as fůck.
Front row last year's first choice, but get what you're saying.

Phew, I think I care more about Eden Park record than world cups. I was there for the try from the end of the world.
It’s funny , my first two test matches live were both losses at eden park ,
One to the Aussies and one to the frogs in the 70s
Wow AB's have only ever lost 13 games at EP and two of them were your first tests.
Cornelsens Test (worst defeat) and the Bastille Day loss.
We've only lost twice since that July in 79
First 20 of the second half on Saturday and I thought we were going to again.
Yeah , they were the two tests , cornelson test 78 and the Jean Pierre Reves captained frogs in 79 .
If you have asked me about the eden park fortresses at the time I would have laughed , I was 0-2

"beer" needs inverted commas
‘Steinlager ultra low carb’
Yep, congrats brewers, you made a shite beer even worse
The pressures of being an All Black are immense. Being forced to drink that would tip me over the edge

That man has big hands, makes that can look small. I must also have big hands, which would explain a lot
That if you wear gloves they need to be big ?

Take out Scott, Jordie and Beauden we would have lost.
100%So true.
12 against 15 would have been too big an ask.

It's actually nose length according to studies.

Your studies?
But my nose has been compared to a squashed strawberry, so sounds accurate to me

Is no-one going to attack the ball on the ground?
Unless Reece is in the vicinity, we are simply not doing it on any regular basis. The odd occasion with Papali’i or Taylor. England didn’t really do it either.
For the most part our attendance to the collision was very good. We made it hard for them to get their hands on the ball.
I think we have banked on trying to drive over the ball given how most refs officiate the tackle/ruck.

I thought I had a mortgage on the dad jokes.
Beaudie is due a red card to join his brothers though…

You watched the game, presumably.
This is the Fern, that is indeed a presumption.

Man, I know he used to be everyone's favourite player but the hyperbole on BB's performance is a bit crazy. Did some really good things for sure, but also put a kick into touch on the full, kicked the ball away aimlessly when we had an overlap, and put in one of his usual dog-shit exits. Total rocks and diamonds, but I'm reading 10/10 performance and some saying he has game management and ought to be starting at 10 - sorry but that's fucking mad - he has always played good cameos against tired legs, and he has never displayed good game management despite a shitload of opportunities.
Ratima, as expected, made a big difference to everything happening outside him. Backs need fast ball. I can only wonder whether we've become complacent about that fact due to having Smith for so long. Christie played well and is a super defender, but he just isn't what we need.
McKenzie continues to create most of our oportunities.
That's the worst I've seen Telea play. You don't pick him for pace, but you still need him to finish that movement somehow, or at the least recycle, not throw the ball away. Yeah Perofeta should have gone the other way, but that is a smaller error than Telea's. Aside from that, he was targeted by the poms positionally, and looked like an 18 year old Jonah vs France on defence.
Savea hasn't been top 3 loosies in either game. World player of not-this-year so far. Finau quiet, but expectations on him ought to be a bit lower.
Lineout was terrible. Very, very lucky to get away with a win against a top tier team when we turned that much ball over.
Good scrum, largely good rucks. -
