@taniwharugby completely disagree, need to rip of the bandaid now and get a genuinely international class centre in place for 2027
The only problem is we don't have a surfeit of options to waste Tests on if you don't like Rieko.
For much the same reason people got pissy when the AB coaches kept trying to find a blindside flanker.

I recall Robertson had a meeting with Dalton when he got the job which is interesting.
Did he Though ? I am not sure that is correct from what I understand.
You confirmed it earlier this year?
@Chris said in It’s Razor. Robertson New All Blacks coach.:
Yeah I heard about them meeting,Potential new AB Captain maybe or a switch in positions to 6.But not 100% sure.
-
Reiko will be 30 by the time the next WC rolls around not old for a centre,But he will lose some of his pace probably by then which is his major weapon.

I would think Razor is in a very good position as a selector to pick the 2024 squad.
For the last 7 years he has coached and coached against all the NZ players in SR,
He would have a good handle on players strengths which he would have had to combat and any weakness which he would be looking to exploit.
And knowing the same about the players he had coached.
I guess McDonald and Holland should also be aware of who fits into their vision of The ABs tactics and game shape.
For much the same reasons.Ugh, I was happily looking forward to next year while reading this post until I got to here.
I'm having serious doubts about Razor's ability to pick good assistants when I see Leon is going to be the attack coach.

6 - Finau / Jacobson
Jacobson is best suited to no.8 and he very rarely plays 6 for the Chiefs.
If Cane isn't selected I wouldn't mind seeing Harmon given an opportunity at 7.
-
I’d say something pretty catastrophic would need to occur for Ioane not to be there in 4 years time.
We have the makings of a world class midfield. Razor and co just need to find ways to better utilise their skills. The challenge will be ensuring we have back ups that get experience without the drop off being too far.
QT started to show promise prior to injury and I think a guy like McLeod who has size and a decent head on his shoulders could be ‘projects’ that the new coaches would work with.

he was meant to play in 2019 RWC but got concussion. Was reflecting how I don't think he's really kicked on - I really rate him, but he has not shone at Test level, and few seem to be on his bandwagon.
Edit: I guess I'm saying 4 years is a long time and predicitons are bloody difficult
-
@ACT-Crusader McLeod provides great utility off the bench too. I'd even be tempted to have him on the left wing.
Will Jordan can't even handle wing and people want him at fullback. He's a flash in the pan, flat track bully with not a lot of real rugby skill. Has he grown as a player in the last 4 years?

Some people make better assistant coaches than Head Coache's,Leon did ok for the Crusaders under Razor it may work again.

It would be great to see structure and strategy similar to Ireland's. Have got fed up with the randomness over the last few years even if it had moments of brilliance. Razor is under pressure to deliver as always.
Obviously the head highs and TMOs need sorting too as it's driving everyone mental. -

Fucking yuck. Is that where our hopes and dreams lie these days?
-
I didn’t confirm is was for Dalton to be captain
As George asked me if I had heard about it
He said it was to make Dalton Captain I said not sure what is was about.
Not sure as I understand it was about being Captain.
Scott Barrett maybe closer to getting that role. -
Dalton as 7 and a vice captain option would make sense - if he can put together a strong Blues season.
I agree with liking what I see from Mcleod - in theory I think his game translates well to test footy.
Fullback will be an interesting watch during Super with the 15 shirt now up for grabs - Jordan / Stevenson / Love / Zarn / Kneepkens plus others
-
I've never been a fan of Rieko at centre but he was rock bloody solid during the RWC and that combo with Jordie is looking better for each test. I just hope he continues to improve his passing game, which is still pretty average Actually passing the ball isn't the same as being a good passer or distributor. What I like is that he's been very good on defence and is a genuine threat whenever he touches the ball. IMHO that makes up for his deficiencies.
Cane has unfortunately proven to be a liability. Maybe he can be an impact reserve but not as starting captain. I would add that to my very amateur eye, he stands way too upright when tackling and cards will be inevitable.

If he continues to improve, Proctor might be considered for the midfield, too. Never thought I'd say that.
And Flanders for no. 8/6.Jordie, Rieko, Proctor, ALB, McLeod.
So midfield sorted too, nice one.
