Yeah Scott has been the Crusaders Captain for the last 2 seasons.
He is the logical choice going forward, if they don't choose to retain Ardie. Will he be back from Japan by the time the test season starts in 2024? I prefer for the captain to be a forward, and no one else (apart from AS) is a nailed on starter right now. I wonder if Razor will want to avoid a leadership vacuum next season by keeping Cane in some capacity (Sam W, BBBR, Ardie(?), AS all gone), or if he is more than happy to pick a young team and build from the ground up

I think Ardie will be back for the July tests.
Maybe Scott is I am not sure,I think Razor will pick his own man as Captain so it maybe someone other than the 2023 Captains.Normally a new Coach likes to install his choice as Captain not a previous coaches choice. But anyones guess.

But if Scooter was his captain at the Saders he must be seriously in the running? Ardie is a good soldier, and I don't think he'd be fussed if he isn't given the captaincy

Yes I would think his name will be in the mix.

If we assume the captain will be a forward, the list is short. Won't be one of the front row, they haven't been there long enough. No one has nailed down 6, and if Razor drops Cane there will be players vying for the 6 and 7 jerseys. Unless he decides to move Ardie I think he has 8 sewn up. New 9, new 10, not convinced JB can captain from 12, Rieko nah, wings as captain don't work for me. I don't he would be advised to make a newbie captain. So the short list is 2 for me

Scooters name has to be in the mix...personally im still a little nervous about his brain farts...and thats when hes just trying to play let alone if hes thinking about captain stuff...but there also arent loads of options

Maybe the added responsibility will calm him down. Is he a card magnet at Super level?

A lot of things will change during SR. Some teams will lose a lot of experience. Multiple teams with new coaches.
Barrett is the likely captain. I recall Robertson had a meeting with Dalton when he got the job which is interesting.
Dalton has a massive opportunity to get his hands on the 6 jumper. I thought he handled himself well in France. I see lots of spots in Razor's first AB team up for grabs for those who are good enough to take them

just had a vision, no matter how well we do next year we'll still have SA fans reminding us they're the World Champs and now im sad again

I don’t want Papali’i playing blindside. He’s a very good openside that is growing into the role. He’s built up a fair amount of test experience too.
6 - Finau / Jacobson
7 - Papali’i
8 - Savea (C)Cane could get the Thorne post-03 RWC treatment

He's a good team man, so perhaps Cane could be an experienced transitional squad member

No Blackadder ? That’s not how things are done round here

or Grace or MMT?

MMT?
Did not kick on. Struggled to start for the Highlanders this year and has moved to Japan

@Stag said in All Blacks 2024:
@taniwharugby completely disagree, need to rip of the bandaid now and get a genuinely international class centre in place for 2027
The only problem is we don't have a surfeit of options to waste Tests on if you don't like Rieko.
For much the same reason people got pissy when the AB coaches kept trying to find a blindside flanker.
