We can’t underestimate how important Aaron Smith was at the end of the game. You can hear him just barking to our boys to get up and realign after each ruck. He would’ve had a point to prove after the YC. Thanks Nuggie, you are an AB legend.
Loved how he shouted for Ardie to get up after the Savea was pissed at and complaining to the AR for not getting the turnover penalty
edit:
@chimoaus said in RWC QF: All Blacks v Ireland:Did you see him yell at Savea to get up out of the ruck when Savea was complaining to the ref. Smith is the heart of this team for sure.
Haha, sorry, you were first

Scoreboard pressure means something aye!
The fact they needed a try and Jordie had nailed that penalty to get it out to 4 points meant they couldn’t set up for a droppie.

Yep and yelled at many others to let them know it wasn’t on. He’s an emotional guy Nuggie, but when he’s zeroed in there is none better IMO.

I don’t want to be a dick but the thought of Kearney talking about the AB defense after the Italy game really puts a smile on my face ….
The ITV Irish commentary tonight made it even tastier eh. Carrying on and on about Irish dominance despite being behind the whole game. Fuck yes

Did the Irish bottle it a bit when they needed that try ,
Their elaborate attack we normally see with the ball being moved around and runners going everywhere all of a sudden became conservative and made it easier for us to defend .

It’s 2023 and Wayne Barnes is still a cheating fluffybunny.
I hate that pompous prick. Thought he was going to rob us again as he did in 2007.
Get over yourselves fellas. Any other ref and we would've been rolled, bowled and arseholed.
no - he did his usual mostly excellent, with some brain farts. Strong disagree.
You go girl

World number 1
You're right. As long as they still doing double points for RWC matches, and the rankings shown are prior to this match.
That takes us to 90.91, them to 90.57.
France 90.59.
SA 89.70Not working out permutations of that. Do France get home advantage penalty?
Only unofficial, as they only change once a week. And whomever wins France versus SA will be official number one next week
-
It was funny to hear both Mils and Wilson go all Marshall near the end with some on-air comments about the Savea non-penalty and then the final Whitelock ruck penalty.
-
@Stargazer Haha that's a prime candidate for Freezing Cold Takes
As are almost all my posts in here......

I walked out of the room. Totally stressed out with this shit.

No. As much as I’d love to stick the boots in 😉
I think a combination of the intensity, the time, there were guys sucking in the big ones. They still spread it wide and made metres in that passage.
We just kept our nerve and then it took a phenomenal play to get the win.

Fark I've got to hear the NZ commentary. I dislike Goldie as a pundit but seeing Ireland packed up and fucked off I can live with it for another week.
-
fark, just barred up thinking of Jordie's 50 m penalty. How critical.
Or SexBomb's miss (although we coughed one up as well).
ah yeah, going to be a good day

They totally choked, overconfident with going for the try rather than the three. They had shape and go forward, but weren't as fit at the end either. That is the biggest choke in rwc along side the red roses last year, but they had a red. They were both on record runs, having smashed the opposition earlier, and should have won. Far bigger chokes than abs have ever done

And they played 20 min against 14 men.

I said before the game the advantage the ABs have is the metronomic method of their attack. We knew how we could beat them but were we good enough to action a plan to do so. Turns out we were.

Glad to have been proven wrong
Congratulations the ABs -
@ACT-Crusader That definitely sounded like Wilson. Barnes was having none of it.

Congrats boys, and congrats on your express pass to the final
You cheeky bugger.
Argies speed is a problem that requires a different defensive plan than what we saw against the Irish.

It was ridiculous. You bet your ass if that were O'Whiny over the ball Sexcunt would have been yelling at Barnes.
-
Let’s be honest, there wasn’t much in that. It really could have gone either way. Huge defence at the end.
-
The other bonus in the rivalry between the two sides,
Our 18 game winning record stays intact,
Imagine losing that to Ireland on top of losing
-
Probably not enough credit been given to our 4 young props that did the business tonight. Scrum was dominant and lineout was excellent.
Add to that the long time in camp has shed the kilos off DeGroot and Williams. Both look much fitter and slimmer out there.
-
@Higgins said in RWC QF: All Blacks v Ireland:
Does that win see the Reyburn Shield change hands?
Raeburn ... but yes 🙃
-
Well said that man. Cane stepped up big time. Ardie is a legend already.
-
Tears in their Guinness -
-
So I’m assuming we get Telea back next week? He might need an ankle bracelet or something. LF was poor on D tonight.

Sorta, we hold it equal with England, they would've just equalled it too

you would back them to get it next week if they won

Why not both?

Honestly Stan, get a commentator that can string words together ffs.
They also have NZ coverage lol
How do you get that?
When you choose the game there are normally 2 live options. One will have small white text stating it has NZ Coverage.
Thanks I'll look

Oh yeah that extra little bit of salt in the wounds. Was POM on the field tonight? Poor man's Reuben Thorne
-
Yes. Just finished watching.
Before I make a more calm response now that we've won and this wont be sore losing:
Fuck Ireland and their cheating playing players in front of the ball tactic. All game they run a player in front of the ball who even if he doesn't actually touch a defender it forces them to change their line. Is Robbie Deans their secret attack coach?
Seriously WR needs to crack down on that.Anyway, fucking happy with that win. It was a good hard test match.
So our defensive system worked this time? Who would have thunk it.
Class play by Reiko to feed the ball back in to LF rather than go for glory himself.
Sexton's a cock but I felt sorry for his little boy wiping the tears from his eyes.
That Mo run to send Jordan in was fucking class.
Ardie and Cane were machines. Scooter and BBBR work bloody hard, actually so do the rest of the fatties.
As much as I don't like Ireland they are a class side, who play their game well. Will be interesting to see what happens to them now. Will they carry on as a top side or have we broken them and is this a golden generation that they might not be able to replicate.
M.agpies and ABs wins - great weekend for this guy.
