In 2016 my afl team Richmond had a very disappointing season, after an intense review end of the year , the head coach kept his job , but they changed the assistants around him .
They also completely changed the game plan, they went on to win 3 of the next 4 premierships .
Now I’m not saying it’s the same and we are heading for the same success, but it is feeling a bit similar at this point in time.
If I understand you correctly, what you’re saying is the ABs are not winning the AFL?

@mariner4life well, the luck of the Irish forced the coaching changes (so yeah, luck wrong word there) but this helped with the forward play, while injury to Havili (unlucky for him) forced the positional switch of JB, alkong with some other injuries, so those have assisted with getting the peices of the puzzle to fit.
I mean what happened last year or so with the coaches was pretty unprecedented for the ABs, so I dont think you could put what happened into a plan that was ever divised by anyone, so yeah luck is the wrong word, but some decisions were made, that were not of Fosters doing or part of any plan.
I still maintain some of the play last year v the Irish was up there as some of the worst I have seen from the ABs, but that is just my opinion.
The thing with Havili he only came into the squad when Goodhue and ALB got injured so he was never a first choice. Circumstance bought that on too.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again in true TSF broken record form, Jordie was the best fullback in the team so it was only natural that they played him there. Even more so when DMac went offshore.

best of the guys allowed to play there
There is no evidence he was better than Jordan would have been
There is evidence he's probably not as good as in-form BB, but at that point they still thought BB was a 10 -

Dunedin is soft now
https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/132680961/early-drinking-discouraged-before-afternoon-all-black-test’We are mindful of when people start drinking, some people will start drinking at lunchtime prior to the game,’’ Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond said.
Lunchtime ? If they were really dedicated they’d be drinking at the crack of dawn.
Surely, they should be happy that there is less time to pre-load?
As opposed to lunch with beers.

2021 he was first in the TSF's aggregate MOTM voting while playing fullback. He was one of the few players to have a strong year. 2022 he wasn't quite as good at fullback

I reckon last year he looked a little flat after playing a hell of a lot of minutes for the Canes.
There was huge excitement on here when they moved him from the wing to fullback and he made an immediate difference there.

What people have omitted about Foster's current run of wins is that it is on the back of a remarkable period with almost no injuries.
The few injuries we have had have been forwards, where we do have a bit of depth.
An injury to Aaron Smith would be crucial. I suppose he might start Roigard, but Foster has rarely shown such courage.
Mo'unga too, given that I think he would move Beauden Barrett back to #10.
I like ALB, but he won't be the man we need to replace Jordie Barrett.
With Beauden Barrett at fullback, we need to have Mark Telea and WIll Jordan playing.
That's a lot of guys to keep fully fit for a stretch of six big matches.
