A few people are suggesting on facebook that Brad Thorn should go to the Saders.

Considering what he's done for the Reds, I'd be onboard with that.

@Dan54 No one is suggesting a head coach role, more likely an assistant role. The guy was a Crusaders legend.

All the assistants are locked in Perrin,Marshall,Elllison. Maybe a spot there when Scott Hansen goes with Razor to the AB's which was an analytical role,
I am not sure that is a Brad Thorn strength.

I wonder if Rennie is a done deal for the blues. He would be a good man for the canes. Another option is Boyd maybe as a short term pick with Ellison having time to see what he can do as a head coach for Wellington. I just hope they get it right this time. No more punts like Hammett. Or promoting assistants who lack the qualities to be a winning head coach. Holland was one but Gibbes would be another.

@Winger They’ll Promote Gibbs if they can’t get Rennie I reckon.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/opinion/131783608/why-clayton-mcmillan-shapes-as-new-zealand-rugbys-big-coaching-riddle

"Here they now have, in McMillan, a man they believe is destined for bigger things, and whose record actually outshines those who are instead in the conversation."

"Beginning his six years at Bay of Plenty, he inherited a side which had finished dead last in the championship division. He took them to semifinals in his first two seasons, a final the next, as well as the championship title and then a premiership semifinal."

"Similarly, he picked up a Chiefs team which had endured their miserable winless Super Rugby Aotearoa run under Warren Gatland in 2020, and after immediately steering them somewhere close to the Kiwi title, he was then, tellingly, seen as the best option to retain the job even when Gatland was meant to take back over."

"From there, he has gone on to build an exemplary record with the Chiefs. Going into this weekend, with 27 victories from 37 games, at a 73% success rate, he not only has the best win-loss record of any Chiefs coach in history, but one that is also superior to MacDonald at the Blues (44 from 68 at 65%) and Holland at the Hurricanes (29 from 50 at 58%)."

Exactly my sentiment for the last two years, been banging this drum pretty loudly - media have clearly been reading the fern!

Razor is looking for assistants, Holland at least appears to be a better assistant than a HC. Not really sure about Leon, but he's a mate so.....

@canefan Razor won't take McMillan because he's a forwards orientated coach, Holland & MacDonald are backs specialists.

Razor has always had at least 2 back coaches and Ryan to coach the forwards, except NZ U20's of course.

McMillan is better building his resume at the Chiefs for now. He hasn't even won a Super title yet

By that criterion, never have Foster, Holland or MacDonald?

I wasn't making the comment as a negative. Just that he's early into his HC career at the Chiefs, it's not a bad thing to let him continue to develop himself and the team for a while

fair enough. I'd personally say the same thing about Leon.

If he wanted McMillan that would be fine. But he wants Leon so I guess thats fine. He has to be comfy with his team

@canefan True, it's as simple as he's had nothing to do with McMillan, coaches want to be surrounded by people they are familiar with, Razor has a strong relationship with Holland, MacDonald, Hansen and has worked with all of them previously.

And Ryan is already there, ready and waiting

When is he signed until? Surely time for a trip over seas for international role before pushing further

I've long hoped he'd come back and coach in NZ again.
