With Whitelock and Scooter you basically have 80 minute players. Scooter is a starter. He’s only come off the bench twice in the last two years and they were both last season and one of those was against the Argies when we started Patty T and Vaa’i.

Barrett has been replaced 4 times this year in the 74th, 72nd, 70th and 71st minute. They are not going to use Brodie for those sort of token minutes.

I’d be starting all three of them and that way you have options with two loosies off the bench - Ioane or Frizzel and one of Harmon or Hoskins.

Ardie is an 80 minute player too, but they have selected Hoskins on the bench when Ardie has been in the side. It’s just that he hasn’t replaced Ardie.

picking the team are we? I am not expecting major changes and some people in positions we have seen before.. I am picking DH to miss out this week though. There is much love for Caleb in the selectors and although we have seen weaknesses they do appear to be persisting through it.

    1.Ethan de Groot; 2.Codie Taylor; 3.Tyrel Lomax; 4.Brodie Retallick; 5.Sam Whitelock; 6.Scott Barrett; 7.Dalton Papali'i; 8.Ardie Savea; 9.Aaron Smith; 10.Richie Moúnga, 11.Caleb Clarke; 12.Jordie Barrett; 13.Rieko Ioane; 14.Sevu Reece; 15.Beauden Barrett.

    16.Samisoni Taukei'aho; 17.George Bower; 18. Fletcher Newell; 19.Shannon Frizell;20. Hoskins Sotutu 21.TJ Perenara; 22.Anton Lienert-Brown; 23.Stephen Perofeta.

We've also got our best centre on the wing, the guy they've played at centre come hell or high water unless he's being rested. And the hookers the wrong way around.

He's almost as good a troll as ACT!

Start with the big bodies, and get the most out of them. Taylor showed he can be the impact sub. That includes starting SB IMO, who is our best lock.

AI, AS and DP is a well balanced trio, and showed signs last week of generating some good turnover ball.

Play the best centre at centre, use Clarke outside RM, on the hit up, ALB covers 12,13 from the bench.

Give Telea another go, showed more than Reece has in recent games.

@Bones my theory will be rotation of hooker minutes enforced upon them by Coles in Japan will be the logic we hear.. I prefer Sami to start, but I don't think it happens either especially since Codie has found some much needed mojo

I makes zero sense, we saw the perfect use of them and what they bring in the weekend. Therefore I fully expect it to be reversed.

And Ennor to start at centre.

I’d stick with EDG, Sami and Lomax to start and have the Saders trio off the bench.

@Bones since when has our fern hive mind ever worked over a selection panel..Im getting used to hearing things I dont want to hear from Foster now, so no shocks here unless you wanted Ennor of course . My thoughts were just on the team I think he would pick, not the one I would like to see. Happy to be wrong on that one though

    Especially in his 100th test.

If they liked what Bower offered against Scotland then Ofa could switch over to the reserve TH.

I would like Sami to start and Scott B at 6 and Reece and Rieko on wings.
And I would like to see Aumua Telea Harmon and Sotutu or Frizzell on the bench or possibly a 6 forward bench with Vaii added. I want to make it harder for Eddie by subbing on some players he is less familiar with. Those guys are bursting for an opportunity so I don't want them to reward the under-performers whose frailties are easier to see and target.
Was kinda hoping Dmac might get called back in for some time at 10 as confidence seemingly not there with Perofeta. But seems unlikely now.
Will be an interesting match. I think the keys are having Jordie at 12 and Sami starting, to get the forward momentum. Just hope Mounga is in top form with his tactical kicking and that Sam W is better than last week at quickly managing referee interpretations that trouble us.

Looks like Gloucester had there entire front row defending out wide. Bold strategy.

Taukeiaho starts. You want your best players getting the most minutes.

I'd start the 3 locks. I don't think S Barrett is any less mobile then the SF or AI. And he's clearly the better player.

Ioane starts at centre. ALB was not close to playing well enough to force his way into the starting XV.

I'd consider shifting Sevu to the left wing and starting Telea. Probably won't happen though. The wings really need to step up.

The rest should be straight forward with the prop reserves being a crap shoot. TJP, Havili and ALB on the bench. Realistically Perofeta should be on the bench but there is zero faith in him so may as well go for Havili as Foster might actually put him on.
